The Leidos Innovation Center (LiNC) at Leidos currently has an opening for a Research Scientist to work at our customer site on Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. We are seeking a dedicated, talented, and experienced Research Scientist to work as part of a leading-edge research and engineering, design and development team. Leidos seeks mission and team-oriented individuals who enjoy working as an individual contributor in highly collaborative teams.
The Research Scientist will contribute to the Adaptive Technologies for Force Readiness Program supporting AFRL/RHW. The ATFR Program provides the Air Force with a wide range of research into advanced technologies such as advancing Warfighters’ ability to effectively team with autonomous agents in dynamic mission environments.
This effort involves researching state of the art methods for measuring, analyzing, and interpreting behavioral data to better understand how knowledge is captured and transferred between humans and autonomous agent teammates.
Primary Responsibilities
You will work as part of a team to conduct research on topics including knowledge capture and transfer between humans and autonomous agent teammates. You will develop and execute experimental data collection for behavioral research.
Use creative problem solving to generate hypotheses for research projects.
Capture mental models in humans and autonomous agents.
Quickly learn about complex topics related to research projects on human autonomy co-learning.
Test user perceptions of an automated teammate’s capabilities, including attitudes, beliefs, and opinions.
Collaborate with other researchers and stakeholders to design and implement research projects.
Analyze and interpret data to draw meaningful conclusions and make recommendations.
Write reports and be able to publish findings in academic journals and/or present at conferences.
The successful candidate will work with government customers, software engineers, subject matter experts, and military personnel.
Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree in Experimental or Applied Psychology or a related discipline (e.g., Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Factors Psychology, Educational Psychology, etc.) with 2+ years of prior relevant experience.
Have strong initiative and be comfortable working alone or on teams.
Have experience in public speaking and report writing, and pitching research proposals.
Have extensive experience with statistics and relevant analyses for research in applied domains.
Highly proficient in R, or equivalent statistical and data analysis programs and have experience handling large, interactive databases.
Be more than proficient with the MS Office suite, specifically Excel.
Be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Be a US Citizen and capable of obtaining DOD Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with interface design and development
Be proficient with Python
Familiarity and/or interest in data visualization
Be familiar with knowledge representation and reasoning in artificial intelligence
Experience with human subjects research user studies, or UX design and testing.
Active DOD Secret security clearance.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $78,000.00 - $120,000.00 - $162,000.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
