The Defense Group at Leidos is currently bidding a proposal in assistance of the Project Manager Mission Command Support Center Network Operations Center in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. We are in search of a talented Network Vulnerability and Intrusion Detection Engineer.

Duties Include:

Under general direction, directs and participates in the evaluation and examination of complex malicious code through the utilization of tools, including dissemblers, debuggers, hex editors, un-packers, virtual machines, and network sniffers. Accountable for providing findings in a technical report with details of the malware, identification parameters, advanced capabilities, and mitigation strategies. Conducts research in the area of malicious software, vulnerabilities, and exploitation tactics. Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.

Necessary Background, Skills, and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree and two or more years of relevant background.

  • Certifications: Information Assurance Technical Level 2, Cisco Certified Network Associate – Security; or Certified Ethical Hacker.

  • Background with application security, network security, reverse engineering, or malware. Strong knowledge of worms, viruses, Trojans, rootkits, botnets, Windows internals, and the Win32 Application Programming Interface.

  • Extensive background in programming (assembly and web) and system examination with various tools, including Interactive Disassembler Pro, Ollydbg, Packet Capture tools, or TCPDump.

  • Background in information security or network/system administration, and/or a closely related function, such as IT audit, IT compliance, enterprise risk management, creating/updating/implementing policy, etc., using cybersecurity/IT tools such as Assured Compliance Assessment Solution, Host Based Security Sytem/Extended Service Set, eMASS, etc. in order to perform tasks such as security scanning, providing security related technical guidance, hardening devices, evaluating technical risks, and comprehension how changes in system configuration and/or network architecture affect a system’s security posture and risk profile.

  • U.S. citizenship with a current DoD Secret clearance.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $63,050.00 - $97,000.00 - $130,950.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
