The Military and Veterans Health Solutions Operation has a new opportunity for a Senior Business Development Director to conduct business development activities for Veterans Affairs (VA) opportunities. This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to the breadth and depth of Leidos business with VA. The role requires a customer-focused approach to identifying and pursuing new opportunities, comprehensive business acumen, technical understanding, resourcefulness, and outstanding business relationships.
The Senior Business Development Director is responsible for implementing the growth strategy for the VA. You will participate in the identification and development of new opportunities, drive the win strategy for strategic captures. The selected candidate will work with senior Leidos staff to conduct customer assessments, manage discretionary investment funds, support marketing communications and build and maintain relationships with external customers. You are expected to identify gaps and emerging requirements, perform market and economic analysis, conduct business intelligence, and monitor competitor activity. You will develop the overall VA BD strategy, as well as internal and external partnerships, campaigns and associated marketing with VA account. You will collaborate with a team of business development professionals, including capture managers, BD leads and BD analysts, in achievement of the Operation’s long-term business development goals. Essentially, you will drive Leidos’ expertise into new and evolving mission areas.
Primary Responsibilities
The Senior BD Director is directly responsible for contributing to the development and management of a robust qualified pipeline focused on VA. The qualified pipeline must be linked to long-term business strategies that provide the business an opportunity to grow the Leidos VA account. This position partners with Operations leadership to support overall strategic planning and linking pursuits/capture activities which support pipeline growth. The position requires:

Extensive industry relationships, understanding of the existing programs and teaming environment, and proficiency in customer mission are critical to this position.
Coordinates meetings with customers, competitors, clients, and teammates to develop market insight on requirements, acquisition strategy, acquisition timing, and contract vehicle choices.
Participates in business planning activities, to include biweekly pipeline reviews, bid agenda development, opportunity strategy sessions and gate reviews, black hat sessions, win theme and discriminator workshops, and proposal reviews. Monitors the pipeline, recommends BD priorities and resource allocation
Continuously monitors the market to keep track of competitor developments and their impact on market share.
Develops and supports strategic partnerships with industry leaders, driving innovation and new business opportunities.
Represents Leidos in the industry through participation in industry-related organizations, conferences and panels.
Coordinates with Leidos organizations who perform emerging technologies in other markets.
May have other business development activities, such as investigating and evaluating potential mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, geographic expansions, licensing, partnerships, joint ventures, new business/market opportunities and sustainability to determine if such activities are in line with the organization's overall strategy and vision.
Up to 25% travel may be required.
Basic Qualifications:
This position requires a BA/BS or equivalent experience and 15+ years prior relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 13+ years of experience.
Extensive experience working in the VA market
Direct experience building and developing relationships / opportunities with OIT
Direct experience building and developing relationships / opportunities with VHA
Excellent communications skills – demonstrated through written and oral presentations, development of technical papers, volumes, or similar products
Successful history of shaping opportunities within the VA
Possess business and technical vision
Ability to think strategically
Possess analytical presentation and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to gain internal support, operate independently with limited supervision and feedback, and establish solid working relationships with technical staff, division managers, and peers across the corporation
Possess business and technical vision
Experience developing and managing marketing and bid and proposal budgets.
Experience and comfort interfacing at all organization levels, to include executives
Experience working within the VA
Pay Range:
Pay Range $142,350.00 - $219,000.00 - $295,650.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
