Job Description:
Leidos is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineering Manager for its Hypersonics Department at Spire Manufacturing. Spire is involved in multiple contracts to provide hardware and systems for high energy weapons, launchers, Hypersonics, and target surrogates for several DoD customers.
The successful candidate will serve as the Mechanical Engineering Manager that will manage a group of mechanical engineers, designers and/or analysts to support the mechanical design of weapon system structures, components, and tooling. This position will require an understanding the development of 3D models, manufacturing drawings, technical design packages, and hardware development. Applicant will be required to interface with machinists and technicians for fabrication/assembly, along with participation in system and subsystem test events. This position is primarily a technical engineering function (<50%) along with a direct line management responsibility (>50%).
Primary Responsibilities
As an intricate member of the team, you will perform engineering management functions for the project team involved with design and development of hypersonic manufacturing systems, including tooling design and review, folder structure development, process development for engineering team, assembly oversight, amongst other functions.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree with 10 years of experience performing in an engineering management role in a manufacturing environment
- Must have a strong technical background as well as verbal and written skills
- Must be able to read and develop, using best practices, prints for components and tooling
- Experience in management of hardware design teams to include developing integrated master schedules, and planning required to execute small to large sized programs
- Knowledge of ASME drawing standards
- Must have a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Experience with compatible materials, fasteners, coatings, processes, and assembly methods
- Organizational skills to document designs
- Knowledge of Technical Data Packages (TDP) development
- Candidate must be a resident of the Colorado Springs, CO area
- Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
Pay Range:
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $150,000.00 - $202,500.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
