The Leidos Technology and Digital Transformation Solutions Division is looking to add a full-time team member to our San Diego based utility telecom and networking team who can provide immediate impact on our backlog of design efforts. This position supports teleworking.
Primary Responsibilities
Participate as a member of our design team for a new utility control center and for other utility and government customers. Develop design drawings in Visio or AutoCAD. Perform path loss and coverage analysis in Pathloss, EDX SignalPro and other wireless design tools. Write product specifications and descriptions for wireless systems including HF, VHF land mobile radio systems, Satphone, and Public safety. Develop cabling and patching – fiber and copper - details for circuit interconnections. Support the development of bills of material for wireless systems. Develop test and migration approaches for new wireless systems. Support the development of 4G and 5G based private networking solutions. Participate in peer reviews and customer meetings include developing and presenting technical design materials.
Basic Qualifications
BS degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 years of prior relevant experience. Candidates with 12 years of related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Must be a US citizen and be able to pass a DOE security background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of radio frequency communications, antennas, transmitter and receiver operations. Understanding of transmission lines, propagation, channel impairments and trade-offs in wireless system designs.
Knowledge of standard wireless technologies such as 802.11, 3GPP, P25 and ability to devise system architectures based on performance requirements.
Understanding of end-to-end system operation including the baseband interfaces for packet switches and circuits switched transport.
Knowledge of Ethernet and IP networking and specifics of communicating various services over wireless channels of different bandwidths and characteristics.
Experience with wireless propagation modeling tools for indoor and outdoor environments including point-to-point microwave is a plus.
Experience with test equipment such as signal analyzers, power meters, signal generators, protocol analyzers, antenna and transmission line analyzers, VSWR meters, BER testers, and packet performance analyzers.
Ability to conduct site surveys and draft scoping documentation.
Ability to travel to customer locations for field work and to support meetings.
Ability to develop engineering drawings such as network diagrams, installation plans, cabinet elevations, equipment specifications and bills of materials (BOMs).
Strong communications skills in working in a team environment and with customers.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $84,500.00 - $130,000.00 - $175,500.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
