Job Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to be an active member of the AEGIS system administration team supporting computing systems at NASA Langley Research Center.
We’re looking for a US Citizen with 2+ years of Linux/Unix systems administration; experience with Redhat based Linux a plus.
The responsibilities of this position include:
- SA support of Linux servers, workstations, networking and storage systems
- Support of Windows Servers & desktop systems
- Support of MacOS systems.
- Proactively monitor, analyze, and correct system issues
- Developing scripts to automate repetitive tasks or tools to enhance support of systems
- System performance analysis and tuning
- Building, installing and supporting user requested software
- Support evaluations and assessments of new technologies
The required skills include:
- Experience writing scripts in a UNIX environment – bash/k-shell/borne shell (preferred), perl or python, etc
- Ability to compile and install various user requested open source applications
- Understanding of disk storage systems (RAID, ZFS, LUNs)
- "Quick study" and driven to learn how to quantify, analyze and resolve complex issues.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and also independently
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Understanding of IT security best practices
- Understanding of basic networking concepts
Experience in the following areas would be considered a plus:
- VMWare ESXi / vCenter or XCP-ng server systems
- Supporting a research computing environment
- Managing container environments (eg. Docker, Kubernetes, etc)
- Managing infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, NIS
Pay Range:
Pay Range $66,300.00 - $102,000.00 - $137,700.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
