The Leidos Civil Group is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team.
In this role, you will be supporting the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Environmental Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) Programs with the goal of mitigating organizational risks and assisting the FAA achieve an improved state of compliance with Occupational Safety and Health and Environmental Federal, State, and Local law(s).
Among your responsibilities will be providing technical engineering support for all phases of assigned fall protection construction and renovation projects (i.e. evaluate shop drawings, design proposals, and interpret the technical requirements for adherence to contract documents), developing project drawings in accordance with the FAA Standard/guidelines, and providing technical input to the Government Program Manager for actions to plan and execute engineering projects.
Primary Responsibilities
The employee shall provide technical support to the EOSH Fall Protection Program, for accomplishment of project engineering designs and engineering packages:
Review site surveys and prepare design drawings reflective of compliant fall protection upgrades to existing infrastructure.
Provide analysis, recommendations, and solutions to issues identified on site surveys.
Perform field inspections of existing infrastructure and provide engineering analysis, recommendations and solutions.
Develop site specific project plans and specifications for solicitation and contracting of engineering projects for FAA approval and acceptance.
Perform periodic site surveys to collect site-specific project data and research all (state, local, federal, FAA, etc.) standards, construction codes and ordinances.
Compile and complete project documents as follows:
Drawings and specification lists based on surveys.
Recommendations and solutions based on field inspections
Furnish information required for the preparation of scope of work for implementation of design.
Assessment of engineering impacts on Environmental & Safety Compliance Program.
Operational Risk Management checklists.
Participate in Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) on all assigned projects and provide recommended resolutions on all items relating to engineering.
Perform engineering studies for feasibility and cost versus benefit.
Basic Qualifications:
General Engineering Degree (B.S.) with a minimum 4 years of relevant experience or a Masters' Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
At least 4 years of experience as Structural, Construction or Project Engineer and/or Resident Engineer with Civil Engineering Design and experience with communication towers and similar structure projects.
Proficiency with CAD – AutoCAD or Microstation
Knowledge of Fall Protection rules and regulations, specifically OSHA regulations and ANSI standards.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification as Fall Protection Qualified Person
Experience with projects involving aviation, communication, surveillance or navigational aid facility infrastructure
Knowledge of National Airspace System Equipment Tower (NASET)
Pay Range:
Pay Range $66,300.00 - $102,000.00 - $137,700.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
