The Defense Group at Leidos, supporting the Overlord / Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel (M/OUSV) Program, is seeking a Quality, Safety, Health and Environment (QSHE) Specialist to support a dynamic high growth organization. The M/OUSV program is based in Port Hueneme, CA, and is responsible for delivering cutting edge autonomous vessel technology to the US Navy. The program operates and maintains prototype autonomous vessels for test and evaluation of the vessels as well as developing operations, maintenance, logistics and training procedures for the autonomous Fleet of the future. We are seeking resilient, innovative team-players with a reputation for excellence. This position will be on-site in Port Hueneme with 25% travel.
Primary Responsibilities:
The QSHE is responsible for managing the Marine, Occupational Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Quality functions, ensuring the managed fleet is operated to acceptable standards in compliance with the company’s requirements and international rules and regulations of the Shipping Industry Risk Assessment.
Safety/Quality:
To ensure excellence in safety and quality related matters of fleet vessel performance.
Prepare, review, revise, implement and monitor company´s policies & procedures, based on ISO standards and Risk Assessment
To ensure compliance and implementation with ISO Standards.
Treat safety and environmental compliance as a top priority
Handling management of change, temporary deviation from company procedures, etc.
Manage of audits, vetting and any other third party inspections
Marine/Maritime:
Conduct vessel internal audits related to the company’s SMS in compliance with the ISM, ISPS and MLC.
Cooperate with vessel charterer and other third parties involved in the operation of the vessels.
Overseeing master’s review, familiarization, training, drills, etc.
Planning and performing of company’s management review, familiarization, training, drills, etc.
Basic Qualifications:
4+ years of sea service experience, specifically focused in the QHSE area.
US Citizenship required to start, with the ability of obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Clearance after hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification of ISM (International Safety Management) and
ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security)
Sea service experience to the rank of Master.
Prior experience in the role of QHSE Specialist or as a Superintendent working ashore who has acted as DPA and CSO.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $66,300.00 - $102,000.00 - $137,700.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
