Leidos is seeking a Software Engineer to support intramural human use research at the Naval Medical Research Unit Dayton, OH. (NAMRU-D)
Software engineering expertise is needed in support of human performance research, to include pilot spatial disorientation, vestibular and balance function, cognitive effects of varying breathing gasses, motion sickness countermeasures, spine health, vision science, virtual reality in motion environments, research data collection using EEG and EMG, modeling and simulation and research system troubleshooting. Leidos develops novel solutions to support research lab operations, create applied software-based tasks for warfighter performance, design and integrate experimental controls for clinical research applications for modeling and simulation, respond to emerging operational needs of the joint fleet, while supporting ongoing research in areas that are practicable and pertinent to the United States Navy and Navy Medicine. Key laboratory motion-based research devices include the GL-6000 Disorientation Research Device, also known as the Kraken(TM), Moog motion platforms and the Neuro-Otologic Testing Center. The Kraken is a unique device that is used by the US Military and NASA.

The Challenge:
Develop and test programming code for computerized experimental tasks in support of research activities
Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of software applications in support of research activities as necessary
Troubleshoot system bugs and issues
Develop US Government approved user manuals, procedures, and guidelines
What Sets You Apart:
4 plus years of experience in programming languages including C++, C#
Experience gaming or Modeling and Simulation Game Engine such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or Godot Virtual/Augmented/Mixed Reality
Experience with IT/networking development experience for setting up and optimizing Local Area Networks including UDP and/or TCP/IP programming
Both Windows and Linux development experience or cross-platform development concepts and standard, including programming MATLAB and/or LabView
SQL or other database technologies
Understanding of Vector and Spatial mathematics for game design and physics
3D modeling/CAD and/or 3D printing
Use of Github/Gitlab experience or other software version control.
Graphics programming using technology such as OpenGL, Vulkan, etc.
Multi-threaded applications
Git for version control
Ability to adapt APIs and SDKs such as Qt, boost, etc.
Laminar X-Plane (or other flight simulation software applications and their SDKs) is a plus
Experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or ESP32 technologies is also a plus
Experience in Flight simulation (X-Plane) and Industry Simulation-Visualization (CIGI, DIS, etc.) is highly desired but not required
Experience working with Virtual Reality and/or Mixed Reality would be a plus
Experience in a military or medical research environment is a nice to have
Clearance Required:
Required to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level. No clearance is required to start. Due to US Government requirements, US Citizenship is required.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $63,050.00 - $97,000.00 - $130,950.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
