Leidos is seeking an experienced Research Physiologist II, Kinesiologist/Exercise Scientist to support intramural human use research at the Naval Medical Research Unit Dayton, OH (NAMRU-D), specifically focused on Human Factors, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Biomechanics, Physiology, and Psychology. This research supports the performance, resilience, and wellness of service members to optimizing warfighter performance in the most trying environments.
NAMRU-D performs aeromedical research in support of human factors engineering and biomedical research in the Naval Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory, NAMRU-D. Research efforts will require assistance with interrogatories, medical and scientific authoring and editing of research proposals, human use protocols, technical and scientific reports, responses to grants and funding calls; scientific management, coordination of technical review meetings and the preparation and presentation of point papers, technical reports, and other briefings resulting from these meetings, preparation and support of technical summaries and publications resulting from research activities, support in development of Institutional Review Board protocols for human use research; presentation of research findings at scientific meetings / professional conferences; writing, reviewing, editing, and submitting peer-reviewed articles and technical reports.

The Challenge:
Assist with design and conducting scientific physiological research focusing on health and performance, including responses to exposure to chemicals, extreme environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity, altitude, vibrations, and noise, and/or physical demand.
Perform human use research to evaluate the short and long-term health and performance effects of acute and chronic exposure to environmental stressors and/or physical demand.
Assist investigators in the design and execution of research protocols on physiology and performance issues of interest to the Navy.
Collect physiology and behavior data from human and/or animal subjects, such as pulmonary endpoints, EKG/heart rate, and performance measures.
Operate and maintain standard and specialized laboratory equipment with regard to assessing physiological function and health effects following exposure.
Assist with the development of technical reports, presentations, and publications.
Assist with the development of proposal applications for other toxicological, physiological, psychological, medical, and performance studies (subject to Government approval and submission).
What sets you apart:
Master's degree with 10+ years of experience or Ph.D with 2+ years of experience. Experience in kinesiology/physiology umbrella preferred (Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Biomechanics, and Physiology). May Consider other STEM degrees which provide a good foundation for research, such as Human Factors, Biology, Psychology, or Mathematics
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Proficiency in the use of common statistical analysis software, to include SigmaPlot, SPSS and SAS
Strong technical writing background with experience in writing research proposals, standard operating procedures, IRB protocols, technical reports, journal articles, and conference papers
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Self-motivated and capable of working independently and with others
Ability to obtain Secret Clearance. Due to Federal contract requirements, US Citizenship is required
Preference give to those who have:
PhD plus relevant experience preferred.
Experience in a military or medical research environment is highly desired.
Demonstrated experience and success responding to research funding and grant requests for proposals.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $78,000.00 - $120,000.00 - $162,000.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
