Leidos Military & Veterans Health Solutions Group is seeking a talented Chemistry Technician to join our team at the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory (NSMRL) in Groton, Connecticut. The NSMRL conducts groundbreaking research and investigates the effects of medical, psychological, and performance issues associated with the health and performance of our brave naval personnel in operational and non-operational settings. The Challenge:
Assist with submarine atmosphere monitoring research.
Execute research protocols in aid of research objectives, including sampling of the air for chemical and particulate exposure.
Analyze data, in collaboration with principal investigators, towards project objectives and then incorporate these analyses in reports and presentations.
Interact with outside customers and researchers.
Support subcontracted projects through execution.
Test, evaluate, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and calibrate equipment.
Install, configure, and debug any issues with laboratory setups used to perform testing of chemical sensing systems.
Establish standard operating procedures for the safe and effective operation of said chemical testing setups.
Test and characterize the above-mentioned chemical testing setup.
Test and characterize handheld, wearable, and passive gas detectors using the above-mentioned chemical testing setup.
Collect, organize, and perform routine data analysis, and verify/correct data entry.
Maintain clear and accurate inventories and logbooks; collect and record detailed observations about experiments.
Assist with preparation of technical reports, summaries, posters, data presentation, and protocols.
Conduct literature searches on identified topics relevant to current laboratory practices/protocols.
Assist in scheduling and operation of laboratory equipment.
Maintain compliance with established laboratory health and safety guidelines, as well as established methods/procedures.
Work primarily performed on a government installation. The normal work week is Monday through Friday 0800 to 1630.
Some offsite travel (~10%) may be required for data collection efforts, presentations, etc.
What Sets You Apart:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related fields with 0-2+ years of relevant experience.
Documented evidence of research methods experience (Bachelor's thesis or coursework in research methods).
Required to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level.
Due to Federal contract requirements, US citizenship is required.
Demonstrated ability to interact and effectively communicate both written and orally with a wide variety of people.
You Might Also Have:
Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI/PII compliance, etc. is highly desired.
Experience in industrial hygiene or environmental sampling; handling air samples and processing them.
Computer literacy, Microsoft Office proficiency, and working knowledge of statistical software preferred.
Foundational and theoretical comprehension of general scientific principles.
Experience in a human subject research setting and experience in the US federal government system is highly desired.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $53,300.00 - $82,000.00 - $110,700.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
