Leidos is on the hunt for a Distribution Field Technician. We’re looking for someone who is dedicated to ensuring that every project, no matter how simple or complex, is of exceptional quality. As a core team member, you will be interacting with other electric utility disciplines, playing a valuable part in performing field inspections. You’ll be coordinating with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and 3rd party owners for joint-owned poles.
Additionally, you will provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met. You’ll engage with technical design and Client standards, ensuring quality and timeliness of design deliverables to QAQC. This role will involve outdoor, in-field GIS data collection, so candidates can expect to utilize a personal vehicle (all work-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS approved rates)
As a Distribution Field Technician, you can also expect to:
- Review work provided by Client and assess requirements of scopes.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.
- Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections and return to the office to perform engineering design work.
- Perform engineering calculations and review work of other Engineers such as: structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker
What you will bring to the table (Background Requirements):
- Associates Degree is required; Engineering Technology or other related fields are preferred
- Willingness and Ability to perform both field and office work
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in outdoor environments
- Valid Driver's License and Ability to utilize personal vehicle (work-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS approved rates)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
We Prefer Candidates with:
- Knowledge of NESC Standards
- Some Prior Knowledge of Client Design Standards
- Prior Experience with GIS Software/systems
- Ability work independently
- Previous fielding experience
- Prior exposure to electric utilities and/or electric distribution projects

Pay Range:
Pay Range $37,050.00 - $57,000.00 - $76,950.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
