The Leidos Defense Group currently has an opening for a Nutrition Research Scientist to work with our team in Natick, MA. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your talents and expertise to support our US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command - Solider Center (CCDC-SC) mission.
Primary Responsibilities
Work with the Armed Forces Recipe Service (AFRS), developing, updating, and testing standardized recipes, with specific emphasis on plant-based recipes and other categories of recipes as specified by the services, for use across all Services. Work includes researching recipes, preparing test sheets, conducting nutrient analysis with Genesis SQL, lab trials writing completed recipes and reviewing recipes developed by teammates.
Contribute to writing and editing Guideline Cards as well as contribute to developing culinary trainings and toolkits that will be featured on the Human Performance Resource Center (HPRC) website.
Assist in maintaining all test data and recipe documents in the AFRS shared drive. Support AFRS recipe updates and new recipe development initiatives and assure that sufficient personnel are available to meet ongoing customer needs/requests.
Use knowledge of nutritionally sound recipe and menu development. Ability to apply knowledge of good food service practices and nutrition analysis to meet customer demands for new and updated recipes as well as contribute to the improvement and maintenance of the extensive AFRS recipe database.
Basic Qualifications
BS Degree with relevant experience. Additional years of training, certifications, and/or experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
Certification in Culinary arts or culinary nutrition.
Experience in recipe/menu development with emphasis on nutritionally sound foods and plant-based recipes.
Proficient in ESHA Genesis nutritional software, Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience in food service in a restaurant or bakery, and/or product development or recipe development/testing setting.
Skill in managing multiple priorities.
Knowledge of desktop publishing technology to develop materials for printing.
Knowledge of grammar, writing and editing, illustrating practices, and style requirements.
Excellent communication and problem solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple actions at any given time
Excellent analytical and technical skills
Ability to work independently as well as with others in a team
Preferred Qualifications
ServSafe Food Safety and Sanitation certification preferred.
Experience with Military commodities
Pay Range:
Pay Range $53,300.00 - $82,000.00 - $110,700.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
