We are seeking a well-qualified individual for the position as the Division’s Structural Engineering Assistant Department Manager.
You must be a United States citizen with the ability to obtain Secret Clearance to qualify.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Structural Engineering Assistant Department Manager will report to the Structural Engineering Department Manager and will be responsible for supporting engineering and management needs of the Gibbs & Cox structural engineering department that is distributed across multiple locations and supporting multiple projects and programs. This candidate should be fluent in the structural engineering field and have experience in supporting all ship design phases (preliminary, concept, functional, detail).
Specific technical skill sets should include:
- Structural scantling and foundation design and analysis
- Shock analysis
- Hull mechanical system (mooring, towing, cranes, doors, etc) design and analysis.
- Structural fatigue analyses
This person must have demonstrated success in leading and motivating a team of engineering professionals and have the ability to envision the overall scope and understand how engineering disciplines collaborate and integrate in a multi-project environment to create technically correct products on time and within budget. This person must also have experience in the implementation and enhancement of the engineering environment using leading edge computer-aided engineering analysis, and management tools and technologies to achieve the technical standards and strategic business plans of the Structural Engineering Department.
The successful candidate for Structural Engineering Assistant Department Manager must possess the following attributes:
- Able to motivate and lead a disciplined and focused engineering team.
- Technical proficiency in electrical engineering disciplines to provide guidance and review of products.
- Proven track record interacting with customers regarding both technical and programmatic issues.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to properly communicate technical and non-technical results and issues to appropriate stakeholders.
- Solid organizational and time management abilities.
- Personal style needed to work with an energetic and growing company and department.
- Proven collaborator with superiors, peers and staff.
- Able to personally solve technical problems.
- Flexible, resourceful, with a “figure-it-out-and-get-it-done” approach.
Basic Qualifications:
The Structural Engineering Assistant Department Manager must have a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in structural engineering, with at least two (2) years of this experience in leadership roles. Experience at a US Navy-oriented marine engineering and naval architecture services company is desired. This individual should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
A professional engineering certification or MS. Located in the Washington DC metro area.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $150,000.00 - $202,500.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
