Are you an experienced System Engineer looking for a new challenge? The Leidos Defense Group has an exciting career opportunity waiting for you at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. As our System Engineer, you will play a key role in providing technical leadership and support in IT planning, solution specification/design, implementation, and target architecture development.
Join our team and support the 844th Communications Group at three locations: Joint Base Anacostia Bolling (JBAB), Joint Base Andrews (JBA), and the Pentagon. You will be tasked with supporting the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW) and Headquarters Air Force (HAF) customers on NIPRNet and SIPRNet domains.
To be considered for this position, you must have knowledge of information technology and commercial solutions, as well as experience designing and developing technical solutions. We are looking for a professional with excellent communication skills, a strong customer service orientation, and experience serving as an advisor to Chief Architect and other senior IT managers.

The Challenge:
Successful systems development experience involving COTS/GOTS integration.
Prepare solution packages, documenting recommended technical solutions, and estimated costs and benefits.
Identify, assess, and present options for meeting the functional and technical requirements, including hardware and software updates or upgrades.
Produce architectural artifacts to include system design diagrams, recommendation justifications, and technical specifications.
Design and implement virtualization solutions using validated methodologies; maintaining and upgrading data center virtualization and network virtualization & cloud environments.
Design and define solution capabilities that satisfy customer business drivers/requirements and meet service delivery objectives.
Help resolve issues that arise in implementing solutions and systemic incident resolution.
Direct execution of the full project lifecycle, from planning, through implementation, to operational readiness.
Lead technical discussions both internally and with customer teams.
Provide transparent and regular status updates in requested format.
Responsible for implementing process improvements and providing suggestions for tools, automation, etc.
Maintain core working hours but remain flexible to support after-hours maintenance windows (as necessary).
Be available for on-call support and systems engineering expertise when operational issues or outages are escalated (as necessary).
Participate as a member of the Solution Engineering Team as well as working with the AFDW Enterprise Architecture team to document, design and achieve target architectures.
What Sets You Apart:
Bachelor's degree in relevant technical discipline and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 6+ years of prior relevant experience.
Currently possess an active Secret security clearance.
Possess DoD 8750 certification at least IAT level II, e.g., Security+ CE.
Experience designing and implementing virtualized IT solutions.
Currently possess one or more of the following: VCP, VCP-NV, VCP-DTM, CCNA, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, AWS SA, RHCSA (RedHat), and RHCSE (RedHat).
Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
Customer service oriented.
You Might Also Have:
Microsoft Server experience (2012, 2016, 2019 & 2022).
Microsoft Windows Active Directory Management.
Experience with Storage Area Networks.
Experience with Network Monitoring tools (SolarWinds, SCOM, vROPS).
Experience with DISA STIGs, Air Force MTOs, TCNOs, and other guidance.
Knowledge of DoD and/or USAF systems engineering processes and procedures.
Project Management Experience.
Experience with ticketing system such as Remedy.
Experience working with VMWare virtual environments.
Experience with maintaining Satellite Server 6.8 and above.
Experience with administering RHEL 7 & RHEL 8 systems.
Experience with Dell EMC Unity Storage Arrays.
Clearance Required:
Active Secret security clearance.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $150,000.00 - $202,500.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
