Location: Remote is acceptable as long as you are local to our Philadelphia or New York City office. There are customer meetings that will need to be attended in person.
The Shock/Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT) Engineer will be responsible for performing and reviewing shock and vibration analyses and calculations; preparing and/or reviewing test procedures, extensions, test reports, witness testing on equipment, participating in full ship inspections and test trials, and providing technical project leadership and management for Department of Defense programs in support of complex U.S. Navy ship designs.
Primary Responsibilities
Solving mechanical, structural, and/or engineering problems in the areas of EQT including shock, vibration, EMI, noise, etc.
Performing technical analyses using U.S. Navy specifications, Design Data Sheets, Technical Manuals and/or commercial rules
Performing quality assurance reviews of products such as analyses, calculations, reports, and drawings.
Supporting offsite EQT test or trial events
Performing shipboard inspections to validate designs and proper installation thereof.
Developing, documenting and briefing interdisciplinary teams on technical specifications, analysis, calculations and test procedures for validating system performance
Acting as Technical Lead
Administrative support
Basic Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship and Secret Security Clearance (or ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance)
B.S. Degree or Higher in Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline
2+ years of experience working in EQT or test programs for U.S. Navy ship designs
Ability to work independently, in person and remotely, and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
Excellent MS Office skills, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Ability to travel up to 25% of time
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with various software packages for the analysis and design of equipment and/or ship structures such as Femap/NASTRAN
Experience using SIMPLE
Proficient using computer software to produce engineering calculations, spreadsheets and technical reports
Experience with non-destructive testing and associated military grade specifications and standards
Pay Range:
Pay Range $63,050.00 - $97,000.00 - $130,950.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
