Join Leidos and make a difference for our Federal customer in national security as a high-performing senior technical nuclear weapon system analyst providing direct support to the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Office of Engineering and Technology Maturation. 

You will use your Nuclear Weapon Complex or Department of Defense (DoD) operational experience as well as acquisition/system engineering skills on a portfolio of programs crucial to the future of the Nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile and enterprise.  Overall duties involve providing senior technical and program management support for a multi-million-dollar, multi-site portfolio of advanced and applied research and development projects that are focused on the nuclear stockpile.  An active DOE Q or DoD Top Secret clearance is required for this position.

This is a full-time contractor-support position that involves a mix of work locations.  Qualified candidates can work in Washington DC; Albuquerque or Los Alamos, NM; or Livermore, CA if it is feasible to arrange appropriate work conditions for the position.  This will be assessed through the interview process and governed by the ability to commute to NNSA HQ offices or one of the NNSA national security laboratories.  Initial travel among those locations is anticipated to be as high as 50% on average.  The opportunity for telework is anticipated to be ~10% but is ultimately arranged with the customer.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Researching and preparing background information and/or talking points for meetings to include technological challenges and developments, government and stakeholder concerns or interests, and programmatic updates
  • Preparing technical or program management documentation, scheduling requested meetings, and coordinating with government program management staff
  • Collecting information from a wide variety of sources for executive-level documents, briefings, and reports, and consolidating the material into a finished product
  • Preparing high-level meeting summaries, highlighting action items and due dates, and other key leadership feedback
  • Assisting with the preparation and assembly of briefing packages
  • Tracking and monitoring progress on ongoing projects and initiatives in a technical portfolio
  • Attending and contributing to meetings on a myriad of technical and programmatic topics
  • Managing internal and external program reviews and associated planning; coordinating program review logistics
  • Serve as a technical SME on DoD nuclear weapon requirements
  • Support Federal customers in meetings that cover system interfaces and associated physical environment requirements, technology readiness assessments, and recommend actions that improve inter-Departmental (DoD and DOE/NNSA) interactions
  • Complete annual, quarterly, and other periodic reporting requirements at program reviews and meetings

Position-Specific Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a nuclear weapon-relevant field
  • Active DOE Q or DOD TS clearance
  • Familiarity with systems in the U.S. nuclear stockpile
  • Familiarity with system engineering & integration and weapon acquisition principles (certification not a requirement)
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition, nuclear weapons lifecycle, and/or DoD R&D processes

Basic Qualifications:

  • Writing skills that are easy to understand, accurate, and concise for a variety of audiences
  • Experience in developing briefings for senior and executive management
  • Independent, self-motivated, and exhibits the highest standards of accuracy and organization skills
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in a STEM discipline
  • Staff experience at Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC), Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC), or Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP)
  • Experience at or with Air Force Research Laboratory and/or U.S. Naval Research Laboratory
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DoD organizations involved with nuclear weapons including NWC, OASD(NCB/NM), USSTRATCOM, and others.
  • Previously qualified as missile personnel
  • Participation in an AF or Navy Fellowship at one of the NNSA National Laboratories
  • Graduate of the NNSA Weapon Intern Program
  • Familiarity with Tableau

Pay Range:

Pay Range $84,500.00 - $130,000.00 - $175,500.00
