As a Network Administrator, you will be responsible for providing support services for information systems for Headquarters Air Force (HAF), Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other Air Force activities within the AFNCR. With missions that include the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, and other locations, leased spaces, and alternate sites, you'll be working in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment where AFNCR operations must never fail. Your primary support areas will include IT Operations and Maintenance, Plans, Projects, and Engineering.

Working alongside a team of network administrators/engineers, you will collaborate to implement, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot systems in accordance with organizational and/or DoD network policies, procedures, and standards. You will report progress to the site lead and stakeholders via Remedy ticketing system and/or Weekly reports.

The Challenge:

  • Analyze the organization’s needs, conduct technical research, and implement appropriate solutions to meet Government needs and comply with established standards.

  • Provide Enterprise network administration, configuration, and infrastructure management for servers, CISCO switches, and CISCO routers, including wireless infrastructure and Uninterruptible Power Supplies.

  • Ensure high availability of critical applications and servers while meeting or exceeding Service Level Agreements (SLA). 

  • Recommend new infrastructure technologies to leadership.

  • Administer and configure Cisco-based network infrastructure.

  • Design, plan, manage, maintain, and support network-related infrastructure.

  • Assist efforts with network design and technical direction.

  • Ensure the environment is properly maintained and designed to support the AFNCR mission.

  • Support development and integration of applications and infrastructure services. 

  • Assist with network coordination, identify flaws, and resolve system integration issues.

  • Identify improvements and introduce automation to improve processes and procedures.

  • Monitor security of devices and implement new configurations and upgrades for Enterprise devices.

  • Monitor and report Enterprise WAN bandwidth utilization and circuit latency.

  • Plan and execute Enterprise software and hardware upgrades and revisions.

  • Conduct system analyses to resolve configuration and equipment problems.

  • Interface with third-party vendors to assist with problem resolution.

  • Serve as the focal point for problem resolution for AFNCR Enterprise network issues.

  • Support on-call rotation schedule.  

What Sets You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4+ years of related experience, additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

  • Four (4) or more years of directly related experience in network administration and support. 

  • U.S. citizenship with a current DoD Secret clearance.  

  • Active 8570 IAT II (or higher) Baseline Certification, such as Security+ ce, CySA+. 

  • Experience working in a DOD environment. 

  • Understanding of LAN switching, including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP), Port Security, Spanning Tree, and Layer 2 and 3 switching configurations. 

  • Understanding of Cisco WAN, LAN, and Data Center design practices, technologies, and implementations. 

  • Understanding of Layer 3 routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, VRRP, HSRP) and best practices on implementation. 

  • Experience with network-based monitoring tools (SolarWinds, SCOM, etc). 

  • Experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco‐based local‐area networks using various encryption devices; be able to document the network (such as with Visio).

You Might Also Have:

  • Active Computing Environment certification, such as Cisco CCNA Certification (Routing and Switching).

  • Experience with Installing, configuring, and maintaining TACLANE Inline Network Encryptors.  

  • Experience working at the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB).

  • Knowledge of Air Force, Pentagon, and/or AFNCR.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $66,300.00 - $102,000.00 - $137,700.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
