Leidos is currently seeking a Virtual & Storage Systems Administrator in support of the AFINC II contract for the highly visible 26th Network Operations Squadron (26 NOS) at Maxwell Air force Base-Gunter Annex, Alabama, which provides a world-wide support mission. The 26 NOS is responsible for the intranet support of the entire Air Force network. The mission of the 26 NOS is to operate and defend the Air Force (AF) Enterprise computer network consisting of the AF Wide Area Network (WAN) routers, AF Network Increment 1 (AFNET Inc 1) Gateways, and the 26 NOS Local Area Network (LAN) assets.
The Virtual & Storage Systems Administrator will operate on the Systems Administration Team supporting and maintaining virtualization team infrastructure to include virtualization manager, hypervisors, clusters, datastores, virtual machines vMotion and evaluate data tiering. Candidates should be familiar with virtualized server offerings, especially those based on VMware vSphere ESXi 6.x or 7.x environments running vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA), vMotion of data and compute resources.
Primary Responsibilities
Support and maintain virtualization team infrastructure to include virtualization manager, hypervisors, clusters, datastores, virtual machines vMotion and evaluate data tiering
Troubleshoot technical environment issues and recommend solutions to mitigate problems
Ability to use judgment, research, test, and maintain innovative storage-related computing hardware and software systems, coordinating with vendor support as applicable
Capability to support enterprise backup team strategies, systems (Veritas NetBackup), schedules, tiered storage LUNs/pools and tape library storage
Responsible for shared 24x7 coverage of the virtual and/or storage infrastructure support
Familiarization with support and maintain enterprise SAN hardware (EMC VNX, Dell Compellent, etc.), fiber channel switches (Brocade, Dell/EMC), host bus adapters (HBA) and software management systems tools such as: Unisphere Central, SANav, NavCLI, Dell Storage Manager (DSM), Connectrix Manager Converged Network Edition (CMCNE), Brocade WebTools
Evaluate storage performance issues and storage requests for multiple local and remote data centers
Proactively monitor storage service environments; Maintain or follow system/service policies
Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of enterprise-wide storage related infrastructure both production and disaster recovery
Aide to provide periodic systems report of status, uptime, incidents/problems, or open issues
Respond to system faults, analyzing and correcting applications or errors to reestablish service
Attention to detail and the proactive upkeep of internal documentation config guides, checklists, inventory utilizing OneNote, SharePoint, Excel spreadsheets, PDF or Word documentation
Aptitude to audit, maintaining DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) checklist documentation on supported systems analyzing and utilizing technical procedures, best practices, hardening guidance, vendor manuals, user guides, PowerCLI scripts and site books
Utilize approved tools such as PuTTY, SecureCRT, Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), NotePad++, etc.
Daily, weekly and monthly monitoring and response to virtual or physical alerts from SMTP notifications, vCenters, Remedy tickets, dashboards, or any 3rd party enterprise network applications
Ability to interact new software and hardware technologies for use in environment management of SAN/Fiber Channel or 3rd party monitoring tools such as: Splunk Enterprise, SolarWinds Orion platform and/or Virtualization Manager (VMan), NAGIOS, McAfee Endpoint Security Systems (ESS), Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), ForeScout CounterAct, ACAS Tenable.SC or Nessus Scanners, etc
Basic Qualifications
BS and 2-3 years’ experience (for Juniors) or 3-5 years of prior relevant experience (for Mid-level) with DoD environments or enterprise network data centers.
2-5 years’ experience supporting virtual infrastructure, server storage, or backups using VMware vSphere or Nutanix virtual environments
Knowledge of network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, SSH, LDAPS, SCP, SNMP)
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Must have an active Secret Clearance or able to obtain Interim Clearance
Minimum one or more of the following technical certifications:
Virtual: VMware VCA, VCTA or VCP (DCV preferred) - VMware Certified Associate (VCA); VMware Technical Associate (VCTA), Data Center Virtualization (VCTA-DCV), Network Virtualization (VCTA-NV), End User Computing (VCTA-EUC), VMware Certified Professional (VCP);
Storage: EMC/Dell SAN certification e.g. Dell Certified Associate - Information Storage and Management (DCA-ISM); EMC Information Storage & Management Associate (EMC-ISA)
Microsoft based certification (current): Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals; Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals; Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate; Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate; Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
Microsoft based certification (retired, will be considered): Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
AND one of the following IAT certifications: Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP
Preferred Qualifications
Brocade SAN Administrator or Brocade Certified Fabric Administrator (BCFA)
ITIL v3 or v4 certification
Preferred capabilities with HTML5, PowerShell scripts, VMware PowerCLI, OVFTool, Ansible or Java
Any familiarity with the following is a plus: Hyperconvergence software-centric hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI); blade enclosures, blade servers; Nutanix AHV; Nutanix Prism; Hyper-V
Pay Range:
Pay Range $54,600.00 - $84,000.00 - $113,400.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
