Description
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has a continuing requirement for Secure Enterprise Network Systems, Services, & Support (SENS3) for the continued operations and maintenance and evolution of the Homeland Secure Data Network (HSDN) and the Classified Local Area Network (C-LAN) in Lorton, VA. The Technical Editor will be responsible for editing, proofreading and/or providing writing support on technical documents or sections of documents such as customer deliverables, procedures, and training materials. Duties may include researching technical reference materials, gathering relevant technical information, coordinating with stakeholders or other experts, and developing drafts and final copies of documentation. The Technical Editor will be responsible for ensuring documents meet editorial and government specifications while adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style.
Primary Responsibilities:
This position requires expanded knowledge and experience in own area while striving to acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills. Primary responsibilities include:
- Researching, writing, editing, and proofreading information for use in documents such as customer deliverables, procedures and specifications
- Providing expert, timely editing support for deliverables, reports, proposals, articles and other documents
- Developing clear-written materials for various constituents, such as operations, technical manuals, tutorials, specifications and help systems
- Collaborating with staff to collect information and specifications
- Collecting and organizing information and coordinating layout for publication
- Adhering to established terminology, style and editorial quality standards
- Building knowledge of the company, processes, customers and missions
- Analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures
- Completing work with a minimal level of guidance and direction
- Utilizing knowledge of key business drivers to accomplish work
- Solving standard problems by analyzing possible solutions using experience, judgment and precedents
- Working within guidelines and policies
Basic Qualifications
- TS clearance with ability to obtain SCI
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2 or more years of relevant experience, or a combination of relevant education and work experience equivalent to 6 years
- Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic and demanding work environment
- Complete work independently with minimal or no supervision
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills

- Experience working in the DHS environment
Pay Range:
Pay Range $59,150.00 - $91,000.00 - $122,850.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
