The Leidos Cybersecurity, Architecture, and Engineering (CAE) organization has an immediate opening for an experienced, and motivated Cybersecurity Systems Engineer Sr. This role will be located in Huntsville, Alabama.
As a member of the Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering Team (CAE), the Cybersecurity Systems Engineer Sr. is primarily responsible for executing our compliance processes and setting standards and requirements for secure designs and architectures. The role requires a solid foundation in designing, validating, and communicating architectures that adhere to regulatory requirements and Leidos best practices. The candidate’s primary responsibilities include working with teams within our organization to ensure compliance with security standards assisting our internal customers to understand and improve their architectures, data flows, and data sensitivity controls. To be successful as a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer, you should be able to explain complex problems to customers in layman’s term, accurately assess systems implementations against control frameworks, and develop relationships with our internal customers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with Leidos Corporate customers to understand their needs and design appropriate environment controls to provide solutions that adhere to security standards.
- Assess systems architectures currently in place and work with technical staff to recommend cybersecurity controls to improve it.
- Resolve technical security design issues as commercial enterprise solutions and business needs evolve.
- Inform stakeholders of any security issues with the technical solutions being proposed and assess the business impact that certain technical choices have.
- Work closely with fellow Cybersecurity Architects and Engineers on our team with different areas of expertise (Networking, Endpoint, Application, Cloud, Mobile, etc.).
- Actively participate in design reviews for enterprise environments and capabilities. These design decisions, technical control implementations, and risk mitigation measures set the foundation for Leidos’ global cybersecurity posture.
- Continually research current and emerging security technologies and propose changes where needed.
- Support projects and tool development to enhance global cybersecurity posture.
- Develop a set of reference architectures over time that can be used across customer engagements.
- Adapt these models to keep up to date with regulatory standards (e.g., NIST 800-171, CMMC, Privacy, among others).
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in Information Security with a real passion for the field. Additional years of relevant experience, training, and/or professional certifications will qualify in lieu of a degree.
- Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance and therefor have US citizenship. Individuals do not need to possess a clearance today.
- Demonstrated experience developing and deploying security solutions that meet customer requirements
- Ability to write and verbally communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A self-starter who can execute at the senior engineering level using a combination of learned skills, personal networking, and grit to achieve objectives.
- Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Understand security fundamentals within different areas of expertise (Networking, Endpoint, Application, Cloud, Mobile, etc.) to apply Leidos technical security standards.
- Demonstrate poise and creativity while working with other architects in different domain spaces to come to a common solution.
- Knowledge of a broad spectrum of security products and ability to conduct analysis of alternatives to onboard new enterprise capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
All of the below are not requirements, but would bring significant value to the team:
- The preferred candidate will have experience working IT solutions supporting environments constructing platforms and weapon systems.
- Experience and comfort in taking strategic intents and driving technical organizational change.
- Experience as a Solution Architect designing, reviewing, and securing environments.
- Information security experience as a DoD and/or Intelligence Community employee or contractor would be a bonus.
- Experience reading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documentation to identify security gaps and creating a recommended technical design path to closure.
- A background in Network Security, and basic knowledge of the OSI model, TCP/IP protocols, and access fundamentals will be helpful, but can be taught.
- A basic understanding of Cloud IaaS/SaaS delivery models with experience in any one of the following: AWS, Microsoft, Google, or Oracle clouds will be helpful but can be taught.
- Familiarity with securing web application deployment architectures considering Web, App, and DB tiers will be helpful, but can be taught.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $150,000.00 - $202,500.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
