Leidos is seeking an experienced Network Systems and Services Engineer to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide sustainment support to a mission critical IP email and chat transport system. The location is Ft. Meade, MD. A successful candidate will develop an understanding of the services offered to external organizations and provide lifecycle systems engineering support to development and operations on the program. As a member of this team, you will interact with technical and non-technical teammates including customers and vendors. You will be viewed as a subject matter expert in all things related to the service infrastructure and Network Management System (NMS) - including multiple environments (DEV/TEST and Production).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform successful deployment and maintenance of bare metal and VM Windows servers and applications.

  • Engineer solutions to complex problems and/or incorporate emerging technologies into existing infrastructure to create efficiencies and optimizations.

  • Create/edit documents for system build, instigation, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Perform system analysis to isolate faults in appliance and virtual environments for the purposes of performance optimization and catastrophe mitigation.

  • Manage the analysis of the system to ensure that a software is compatible with or meets customer security standards, including the ability to work with CA signed certificates.

  • Ensure a new features and releases function properly within the customer’s environment and other dependent subsystems.

  • Supervise and perform installation, configuration, and testing of newly delivered software for purposes of integration and release testing, and deployment to customer sites.

  • Lead efforts in identifying and supporting external dependencies where needed.

  • Creation and maintenance of virtual machines in VMware including planning of needs, resources, and availability pan for each machine.

  • Patching and maintenance of hardware and VMware hosts and troubleshooting hardware and software issues in a lab environment.

  • Provides extensive SME knowledge of network engineering and operations, integration, test and evaluation activities, as well as implementation and transition to operations processes and concepts.

  • Collaborate with system architects to define and/or continuously improve STIG compliant configuration baselines, versioning, and compliance tracking.

  • Test and validate automation and best practice insertion opportunities.

  • Lead development of SOPs/TTPs.

  • Support Continuous Service Improvements (CSI).

  • Support system performance tuning and enhancements.

  • Create and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans (EIP).

  • Tier escalation support and vendor engagement supporting Incident Management activities.

  • Active participation in Root Cause Analysis for Problem Management activities.

  • Perform highly technical maintenance involving servers, firewalls, VPNs, IPS, and load balancers.

  • Support and sustain hosted applications via Microsoft Hyper-V.

Core Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in STEM or relevant field, or comparable experience with 10 years or a Masters with 8 years of overall related experience. (Additional years of related work experience may be substituted for a degree at the Hiring Manager's discretion).

  • Effective written and oral communication and problem solving skills

  • Experience developing and presenting technical information to senior customer management, customer stakeholders, and company management.

  • Active DoD clearance at the Top-Secret level with SCI eligibility

  • Security+ Certification or other DOD 8570 IAT Lvl II Certification within a certain timeframe after starting if not starting with one when hired.

  • Experience with SMTP and POP3 hosted server applications.

  • Experience with hosted chat application services.

  • Expertise with 3 or more of the following network protocols, services and concepts: VPLS, VPN, MACSEC, EIGRP, HSRP, VRF, NTP and ACLs.

  • Expertise utilizing and sustaining services supporting the following network management protocols: SNMP and Syslog.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of defense-in-depth principles, network service systems security, architecture, topology, IT device integrity, and common security elements.

  • Experience or demonstrated familiarity in multiple of the following technologies, and a desire to learn the others: MS Windows, Cisco routers, firewalls, and switches, ViaSat KG250-X.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% including OCONUS potential travel.

  • Experience with the Gordano Messaging Suite including Gordano Mail Sever.

  • Experience with LANChat Enterprise (LCE).

  • Experience with CHIMERA managing Inline Network Encryptors (INE).

Pay Range:

Pay Range $105,300.00 - $162,000.00 - $218,700.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
