The Homeland Security Solutions Operation within Leidos is seeking a Linux and UNIX System Administrator with strong systems, software, and Agile experience to support a complex program to provide Agile development and operations and maintenance for critical systems on a mission-critical program supporting the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). PSPD supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and CBP critical missions, specifically screening and processing travelers at the ports of entry (POEs) into the United States.

In this hands-on position, you will work collaboratively to architect, design, build, deliver, and enhance highly available, scalable, real-time systems. You will exercise your judgment in determining and recommending the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines, and other resource constraints. You will participate in and/or direct major deliverables of projects through all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, and unit testing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Candidates must have significant experience designing and developing databases in a DevSecOps environment. 

  • Candidate should have a firm understanding of database operations in a multi-platform environment leveraging Oracle, Java, SQL, and the like.

  • Extensive experience with AWS Cloud technologies, architecture, and integration.

  • Candidate must be familiar with the software development life-cycle.  

  • Monitor and manage production databases, including assisting in the software release process.

  • Monitor and manage backend data synchronization applications and external data source retrieval, applications.

  • This role analyzes recurring problems and initiates solutions for preventing reoccurrence.

  • Support application monitoring performance and troubleshoot production issues.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires BS/BA Degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters Degree and 6 years of prior relevant experience; or 4 years of experience in lieu of degree

  • Must currently possess an active Top Secret Security clearance or Full DHS BI

  • Experience in System Engineering with Linux and UNIX.

  • Minimal 6+ years of experience using in a Linux environment.

  • 2-3 years’ experience developing cloud ready applications and/or experience migrating applications to the cloud. 

  • Experience in supporting 24x7x365 operations.

  • Knowledge of ticketing systems such as JIRA and ServiceNow.

  • Understanding of ITIL principles and escalation protocols.

  • Knowledge of SQL scripting.

  • This position requires to be part of a rotation schedule including holidays and weekends.

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience contributing to deliverables and meeting performance metrics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile / Scrum methodology.

  • Experience with web application and relational database (SQL Server, Oracle).

  • Experience with Linux and UNIX.

  • Solid Oracle engineering skills.

  • Experience with AppDynamics, Dynatrace, and Splunk

Pay Range:

Pay Range $97,500.00 - $176,250.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
