The Defense Group at Leidos, supporting the Medium/Overlord Unmanned Surface Vessel (MUSV) Program, is seeking a USV Operations Coordinator to support a dynamic high growth organization. The Operations Coordinator will work in Port Hueneme, CA, and reports to the program’s Operations Lead/ Deputy Port Captain. The Operations Coordinator will also serve in a supervisory role for USV Crew’s employed by Leidos. The successful candidate will use their experience in the maritime industry to ensure ships are fully staffed and ready to meet afloat, pier side, or shipyard requirements. The Operations Coordinator will coordinate with uniformed and contractor Operations personnel to stay informed of ships’ operational employment, to include test and evaluation schedules, in order to properly schedule crew rotations and appropriate maintenance personnel for O-, I-, or D-level maintenance. The Coordinator will also work closely with program administrative personnel for appropriate base and vessel access, crew travel, and tracking crew training / certifications. The program operates and maintains prototype autonomous vessels for test and evaluation of the vessels as well as developing operations, maintenance, logistics and training procedures for the autonomous Fleet of the future. We are seeking resilient, innovative team-players with a reputation for excellence. This position requires you to be on site at Port Hueneme, CA with up to 25 % travel.
Primary Responsibilities
Coordinate with uniformed and contractor Operations personnel to stay informed of planned USV operational employment, test and evaluation schedule, and maintenance availabilities.
Coordinate crew rotation schedule to ensure appropriate Leidos crew members or maintainers are available for scheduled events.
Coordinate with subcontractor vessel operators in support of program operations and maintenance schedule requirements.
Communicate the crew rotation schedule to crew members in a predictable, transparent manner to facilitate smooth crew transitions.
Coordinate with Program administrative personnel to execute Leidos crew travel, expense reports, training, and performance evaluations.
Assist the program management team in preparing reports and deliverables to the government.
Manage onsite procurement program
Support Ops Lead logistics and procurement plan for repairs to emergent casualties
Travels to Foreign Ports to oversee complex port visits
Manage 3rd Party Sustainment Team
Deckhands, Supply Chain Specialist, Warehouse Manager and Field Tech are direct reports
This position will require close cooperation and working relationships with active-duty military and other Government personnel.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Management with 8+ years of prior Operations Management experience. 10+ years of related experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum two years of direct supervisory or personnel management experience
Demonstrated experience with scheduling crew rotations in coordination with ship operational schedules and maintenance availabilities.
Ability to communicate effectively across organizational and cultural boundaries.
Ability to lift 40 lbs
Solid understanding of Project Management and Project Management Office
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Excellent researching, decision-making and organizational skills
Strong record of maintaining confidentiality and adherence to data protection and other guidelines
US Citizenship is required to start.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior US military service, or civil service in DoD, preferably USCG or Navy
Experience in the Maritime Industry
Strong attention to detail
Pay Range:
Pay Range $75,400.00 - $136,300.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
