Are you ready to join a team supporting the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Antarctic research objectives? Leidos is seeking a Quality Engineer with a strong background in quality assurance, ISO auditing, project management, and Six Sigma methodologies. This a crucial role in ensuring our products and processes meet the highest quality standards, contributing to the overall success of the ASC organization.
Short term deployment to McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and/or South Pole Station, Antarctica may be required of this position for training and process verifications with the ASC Quality team and assigned subcontractor Quality Assurance staff. Eligibility for deployment will require physical and dental evaluations with parameters determined by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
The identified candidate must obtain a Public Trust security clearance prior to start date. This process could take up to 4 months.
About the Antarctic Support Contract:
Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF’s Office of Polar Program’s Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics by aligning with their Mission and Vision Statements:
Vision: Expanding our scientific reach in Antarctica through increased operational and logistical effectiveness.
Mission: To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.
Leidos ASC provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines. The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission.

Your Main Objective:
Quality Assurance:
Develop and implement quality control procedures, processes, and standards to ensure consistent product and build quality.
Conduct thorough inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to identify defects or deviations from specifications and contractual terms.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality-related issues and provide technical support to resolve them.
Establish and maintain documentation for quality assurance protocols, test methods, and inspection criteria.
ISO Auditing:
Lead and execute ISO 9001 audits to assess compliance with established quality management systems.
Prepare audit plans, conduct audits, and compile comprehensive reports detailing findings and recommended corrective actions.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions resulting from audit findings.
Stay up-to-date with ISO standards and regulatory requirements to ensure continuous adherence and improvement.
Project Management:
Manage and lead cross-functional quality improvement projects to enhance product quality, process efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Develop project plans, set objectives, allocate resources, and monitor progress to ensure project goals are met within established timelines.
Utilize project management tools and methodologies to effectively communicate project status and drive alignment across teams.
Six Sigma Methodologies:
Apply Six Sigma principles, tools, and methodologies to analyze processes, identify root causes of defects, and implement corrective actions.
Lead and facilitate Quality process improvement initiatives, aiming for increased efficiency, reduced variation, and enhanced overall quality of deliverable.
Train and mentor team members on Six Sigma concepts and techniques to build a culture of continuous improvement.
What Sets You Apart:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field. Additional years of experience or relevant certifications will be considered in lieu of degree
Minimum of 6 years of experience in quality engineering, with a proven track record of successful ISO auditing, project management, and Six Sigma implementation.
Certification(s) in relevant quality and process improvement methodologies, such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Black Belt.
Strong understanding of ISO standards, quality management systems, and regulatory requirements.
Proficient in project management tools and methodologies. • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
Detail-oriented and dedicated to delivering high-quality results.
You May Also Have:
An ability and drive to attain knowledge, understanding and application of all heavy industrial codes of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Petroleum Institute (API), American Welding Society (AWS) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) etc.
The expected pay range for this role is between $80,000 to $100,000.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $66,300.00 - $119,850.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
