Leidos Corporate Office of Technology has an immediate opening for a Mission Data Lead to join our Software Accelerator team. We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about data engineering and has the technical expertise to drive innovation and deliver outstanding results. The Mission Data Lead will architect, design, and build trusted and secure data systems with a focus on supporting mission-facing AI, analytics, and continuous software delivery initiatives. This position requires extensive knowledge and experience in the digital trinity of software, data, and AI, as well as expertise in modern distributed data and storage technologies, SQL and NoSQL databases, vector and graph databases, and other relevant data persistence types.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop analytics and machine learning enabling capabilities while working closely with software engineering teams to ensure effective integration and operationalization of mission capabilities.
Support the architecting of systems that can take advantage of various modern technology stacks (cloud, hybrid, on-prem, distributed, edge).
Develop and maintain workloads that take advantage of distributed compute frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, and Flink, deployed to orchestrated infrastructures.
Work closely with software engineering teams to ensure the effective integration of data and AI capabilities within their products and solutions.
Utilize open-source and vendor tools including but not limited to: DataBricks, Snowflake, DataHub, Colibra, AWS Data Lakehouse, Cloudera, Informatica, etc.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of experience in data engineering, software or data science roles or Master's degree and 6+ years of experience.
Expertise in distributed data, storage technologies, SQL and NoSQL databases, vector and graph databases.
Experience building and deploying scalable data pipelines.
Knowledge of open source and licensed data tools such as DataBricks.
Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
Experience with distributed data technology concepts, including Hadoop, MapReduce concepts, relational databases, document databases, fault-tolerant data streaming components, parallel and distributed computing, computing using GPUs, or Cloud Service Provider (CSP) offerings
Experience as a product owner or project lead, working collaboratively with two or more project teams to track the status of projects, perform backlog triage, work out functional and non-functional requirements for software features, and develop software delivery goals and objectives
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with both batch and event-driven system architectures.
Familiarity with various cloud platforms, virtualization technologies and heterogeneous deployment environments.
Strong problem-solving skills, extensive knowledge of machine learning concepts and techniques
Pay Range:
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $176,250.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
