The Leidos Defense Group is seeking a Defense Analyst, with background expertise in the Space Domain for an opening in Alexandria, Virginia contributing to the Analytic Support to Force Planning (ASFP) program that supports the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (CAPE) Joint Data Support (JDS). The role will work with Department of Defense (DoD) military planners. This position also entails coordination with key stakeholders within JDS, the Joint Staff, and across the Department of Defense (DoD) to facilitate development of plans and analysis focused on future year scenarios and to identify associated demands upon U.S. military forces.
This Analyst will use experience and subject matter expertise to: assist with future-year strategic and operational studies; participate in warfighting analysis; and research various military topics and countries of interest to the United States. The information and analysis will be used to inform DoD senior leadership in their decision making about budgets and programming future capabilities.
This position emphasizes the Space domain in strategic planning and analysis. The analyst will need knowledge of Space capabilities of the United States, allies, and adversaries.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain understanding of Space missions for exploration and experimentation.
Proven understanding of space capabilities, platforms, and employment concepts in order to analyze them and respond to senior leadership inquiries.
Provide knowledge of U.S. Space Force (USSF) formation, design, capabilities, and DoD missions.
Ensure all planners and Study Leads are aware of U.S. and International Space Laws and Norms.
Support understanding of satellites and satellite operations providing global observation and force-multiplying effects.
Create Space inputs/measures for Analysis Working Group (AWG) tools and products to support strategic studies.
Support Joint Service, strategic planning, and studies in the development of future year Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and the associated forces in accordance with Joint doctrine for strategic planning.
Provide experience in collaborating with Space and USSF operations analysts to identify, validate, and levy requirements for collection and analysis. Work with Study Leads to develop plans for the conduct or support of the applicable range of operations through collaboration with planners, operators, and analysts and participate in targeting selection, validation, synchronization, and integration during the execution of Space actions.
Maintain understanding of the military capabilities, strategic goals, and allegiance of key countries associated with future-year planning scenarios.
Ensure compliance with governance and strategic guidance applicable to operational planning.
Support Service and COCOM representatives in the development of analytic products.
Collect and integrate metadata on assessments and studies; evaluate materials to post products to the JDS website for use by the Defense Analysis Community.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Technology or related discipline and 12 or more years of related experience. Additional years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement.
US Citizen: Currently possess an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a SCI clearance.
Strong experience and understanding of: Space Force Structure and Strategic and Operational Planning and analysis of Space forces, units, equipment, or infrastructure.
Demonstrated knowledge of Space Environment; Satellite Orbits; Space Mission Areas- Threat Characteristics; Satellite Communications-Military Communication Applications & SATCOM Limitations; Position, Velocity, Navigation and Timing-Military and Civilian POS/NAV Applications; Environmental Monitoring; Early Warning; Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR)
Familiarity with key national, DoD, and Joint Staff strategic guidance
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated independent thinker capable of providing leadership.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Planning and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Military experience
Strong experience with an understanding of space-based operations in the Space Domain.
Knowledge of and experience with Combatant Command operational plans
Service Signals Intelligence school attendance
Experience in Space field; Signal Operations; and Information Systems fields

Pay Range:
Pay Range $105,300.00 - $190,350.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
