Description
Leidos is seeking a talented associate database administrator to support NASA’s data center infrastructure team at Glenn Research Center. The role is responsible for performing maintenance and assurance of security measures of the managed databases operating in the data center environment. Duties include monitoring and updating malware protection software to combat potential security breaches, creating account data for authorized individuals to access databases. Supports organizing databases so permitted users can find data efficiently and effectively. Projects long-range requirements for database administration in conjunction with other stakeholders in the information systems function. Supports creation and maintenance tasks against databases across multiple RDBMs platforms. Supports audit and quality control efforts against databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Provides user access to various databases using established processes and tools. Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end (e.g., SQL Server & Oracle)/back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL). Performs database-level scripting and supports systems design. Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design, storage capacity and backup, and integration of systems through database design.
Primary Responsibilities:

Setting up cybersecurity measures
Ensuring all hardware and software are updated to current version
Authenticating data
Monitoring the performance of hardware and software
Configuring servers and databases for security posture, performance and redundancy/backup and restoration
Preserving data integrity
Ethically handling and securing private data
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field with 4-8 years of experience working in database infrastructure support operations.
Ability to obtain a NASA Public Trust clearance.
Familiarity with database queries
Knowledge of database design and theories
Knowledge of database structure languages, such as SQL or SQL/PSM
Experience with Windows & Linux server installation and maintenance
Familiarity with database management best practices
Knowledge of IT security best practices
Excellent attention to detail with problem-solving and critical thinking aptitude
Must be able to develop solutions to problems, as well as manage multiple issues at the same time.
Understanding and appropriately responding to feedback is an important aspect of this position.
Both oral and written communication skills are vital to relaying important information, training new staff members, and communicating about solutions to complex problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience and/or certification associated with MS SQL Server or Oracle RDBMS
Existing Public Trust clearance
NASA experience
