The GIG Service Management – Operations II (GSM-O II), a program within the Defense Group of Leidos, has an opening for a SATCOM Network Engineer at Scott AFB, IL supporting Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). DISA acts as provider of GIG (Global Information Grid)/Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations.
The position will provide support to the Operational Engineering Division as a member of the Missile Defense Operation Support Cell (MD OSC). The primary role of the OSC is to restore any network-impacting event affecting customer service. The team accomplishes this goal using a variety of resources, knowledge, and expertise to perform fault isolation, analysis, and troubleshooting across various Transport platforms including SONET Optical/Fiber Transport (ODXC/MSPP), Packet over SONET (POS), Ethernet, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), military and commercial SATCOM, and cryptographic systems. The technical focus in this role will involve POS and Internet Protocol (IP) based equipment and services in order to perform circuit/trunk restoration efforts for all persistent outages that have been Tier escalated due to an increased level of troubleshooting complexity or duration affecting either the GCN or C2BMC network. Project support and Operational Engineering will be conducted by tracking new projects that bring changes into the DODIN to ensure no adverse effects to the MD OSC mission will occur; providing mitigation strategies as needed.
The candidate shall provide dedicated support to the MDA GCN and C2BMC networks through the effort of the Operation Support Cell (OSC), known jointly as the Missile Defense (MD) OSC.
Perform IP network support to include configuration of switches, routers, firewalls and voice equipment.
Perform IP satellite modem support to include configuration and issue of option/boot files.
Work with DoD SATCOM Gateway facilities and deployed operators to troubleshoot and resolve SATCOM and IP network issues.
Remotely access and de-access customers into the IP/SATCOM networks.
Verify equipment is operating in the baseline configuration and react to alarms as necessary.
Remotely provide global equipment configurations at DoD SATCOM Gateways utilizing the Satellite Access Authorization (SAA) and Gateway Access Authorization (GAA).
Utilize ticketing applications to aid in customer problem tracking and resolution in all aspects of the network integral to our client's Baseband, IF, and RF Communications.
Bachelor’s degree and 4-8 yrs. of relevant experience or Masters degree with 2-6 yrs of prior relevant experience; Specific experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree.
Be able to communicate effectively and clearly both orally and in written form.
Must possess DoD 8570, IAT Level II (SEC+ or equivalent) Certification.
Currently possess an active DoD Secret Security Clearance with eligibility for a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) in order to obtain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance.
Expert level IP/Networking experience including hands-on configuration of routers, switches, firewalls and IP Modems.
Expert level knowledge of voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateways, call managers, performance enhancing proxies (PEP), and telephony systems.
Significant understanding and experience with the operation/configuration of MILSATCOM encryption devices
Significant understanding and experience in the implementation and delivery of DISN services (VoIP, VoSIP, VTC, NIPR, SIPR).
Significant understanding and experience with Satellite Communications (SATCOM) architecture and signal flow.
Utilization of SAA/GAAs as source documentation for network configuration.
Ability to manage IP over SATCOM networks using iDirect or equivalent FM-TDMA hubs.
Pay Range:Pay Range $66,300.00 - $119,850.00
