The GIG Service Management – Operations II (GSM-O II), a program within the Defense Group of Leidos, has an opening for a Configuration Management Engineer at Scott AFB, IL supporting Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). DISA acts as provider of GIG (Global Information Grid)/Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations.

The position will provide support to the Operational Engineering Division as a member of the Missile Defense Operation Support Cell (MD OSC). The primary role of the OSC is to restore any network-impacting event affecting customer service. The team accomplishes this goal using a variety of resources, knowledge, and expertise to perform fault isolation, analysis, and troubleshooting across various Transport platforms including SONET Optical/Fiber Transport (ODXC/MSPP), Packet over SONET (POS), Ethernet, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), and cryptographic systems. The technical focus in this role will involve POS and Internet Protocol (IP) based equipment and services in order to perform circuit/trunk restoration efforts for all persistent outages that have been Tier escalated due to an increased level of troubleshooting complexity or duration affecting either the GCN or C2BMC network. Project support and Operational Engineering will be conducted by tracking new projects that bring changes into the DODIN to ensure no adverse effects to the MD OSC mission will occur; providing mitigation strategies as needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a focal point responsible for actively collecting, tracking, analyzing, and reporting configuration management data

  • Work as a team focused on maintaining the integrity of the CMDB

  • Oversee all aspects of Configuration Management tools and processes

  • Identification and management of issues, risks, and dependencies involving the CMDB

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across DISA to enhance CM practices

  • Status reporting to the task order manager and customer, as directed

  • Creating, documenting, and executing action plans with regards to the program CM processes and tasks

  • Work with the customer and external stakeholders to accomplish program goals

  • Assist aspects of multiple project tasks simultaneously.

  • Perform manual validation of baseline configuration for a wide variety of network devices, servers, and applications by accessing via GUI or command line and performing commands to display the required configuration data

  • Define, update, and extend Program Configuration Management/Document Management SOPs, TTP’s, and team instructions

  • Manage procedure/processes for implementing changes

  • Create/Maintain/Delete Configuration Items

Education and Experience Required:

  • Requires a BA/BS or equivalent experience and 4-8 years or prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience. Specific experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Currently possess an active DoD Secret Security Clearance with eligibility for a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) in order to obtain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance.

  • Knowledge and practical experience with Configuration Management

  • Familiarity with the use, basic structuring, and organization of databases

  • Basic understanding of IT networks, network services, and architecture

  • Experience supporting and briefing a customer

  • Self-starter and has the ability to work independently with little to no supervision

  • Strong written and verbal communications, team building, and collaboration skills

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience creating and developing architectural diagrams

  • DoD 8570 cert at IAT level II or higher

  • ITIL certification

Pay Range:

Pay Range $66,300.00 - $119,850.00
