Description

Leidos is seeking a Senior Security Engineer for a Technical Services Lead role on a Cybersecurity contract supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs Cybersecurity Operations Center (VA CSOC). The CYBERSECURITY TECHNICAL SERVICES LEAD will lead a team of engineers managing configurations of the suite of VA CSOC security tools and technologies, and support the design, development, and maintenance of cybersecurity tools and technology along with integration of new architectural features into existing infrastructures while maintaining the integrity and security of enterprise-wide systems and networks.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform advanced planning, coordination, and implementation of complex security models, and provide configuration policy and process recommendations in support of the CSOC mission including:

    • Evaluate and provide recommended optimizations to security configurations.

    • Analyze security measures that enhance data or operational capabilities of the VA CSOC.

    • Perform ongoing analysis of security tools and evaluate available technology capabilities against the cyber security needs of the VA CSOC.

    • Provide a Security Posture Recommendation Report and provide configuration policy and process recommendations.

    • Maintain process guides and SOPs for the security engineering team.

    • Provide certification and accreditation support in the form of documentation of configurations and controls for all specialized network defense systems and software in accordance with customer policies.

    • Attend workgroups and meetings to identify potential technical conflicts to protect the overall availability of customer networks.

    • Identify, develop, and provide recommendations for the improvement of security incident, event detection, security capabilities for the enterprise.

    • Conduct cyber related engineering studies, analyses, and systems engineering support.

    • Create Technical and Engineering Reports that contain technical recommendations to enhance security and increase operability of CSOC tools.

REQUIRED Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 12 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s Degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience in system administration, database administration, network engineering, software engineering, or software development, with a concentration in cybersecurity

  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust with a Tier 4/High Risk background investigation

  • Substantial experience designing and configuring cybersecurity tools including perimeter and application firewalls, web content filters, IDS/IPS, SIEM and SOAR, EDR and XDR.

  • Experience in a lead role for an IT engineering or cybersecurity engineering team

  • Experience with Linux and Windows system administration.

  • Experience configuring and managing cloud services and virtualized environments

  • Excellent written and oral skills, ability to work closely with multiple customers, manage expectations and track engagement scope 

  • Experience implementing FISMA, NIST, DoD and other information security, cybersecurity and CDM related industry policies, procedures, guidelines, standards, and best practices.

  • General networking and security troubleshooting (firewalls, routing, NAT, etc.) experience

PREFERRED Qualifications

  • Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect

  • Azure or AWS architect certification 

  • Red Hat RHCA or RHCE certification 

Pay Range:

Pay Range $118,300.00 - $213,850.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
