Description
The Military and Veterans Health Solutions Operation within the Health Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Cybersecurity Scanning Engineer. The position shall provide scanning support for internal customers as well as customers external to the VA Cybersecurity Operations Center (VA CSOC) team to achieve VA’s goals of Securing and protecting VA and Veteran information, protecting information systems and assets, leveraging innovation to strengthen cybersecurity, enhancing cybersecurity through partnerships and information sharing, and empowering VA mission through cybersecurity risk management.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Scan Operations Coordination
Coordinate CSOC-managed network scan operations with respective points of contact.
Review and verify Internet Protocol (IP) ranges to be scanned.
Review and select appropriate scan policy(s).
Coordinate with relevant VA network and CSOC team personnel as required, staying within customer specified timeframes.
Respond to respective inquiries.
Scan Operations Execution
Conduct initial system/ data checks upon scan initiation.
Monitor/ coordinate/ react to concurrent scans as required throughout the duration of the scan or operation.
Troubleshoot any issues that occur during the scan or operation.
Verify accuracy of data and conduct system checks as required upon completion of the scan or operation.
Development of new testing programs to expand and deepen scans and operation.
Scan Operations Reporting
Verify/edit report templates.
Produce Scan Findings Reports.
Conduct quality assurance checks of final reports and coordinate results with VA Team Lead.
Distribute reports as required by CSOC Government team.
Produce compliance, vulnerability scanning/ testing and configuration testing data to appropriate repositories.
Produce recurring and ad-hoc status reports, and oral and/or written briefings.
System/ Scanning Operations Maintenance and Management
Maintain and manage Government owned enterprise scanning solution and infrastructure (currently Redhat Operating Systems and Tenable Software), and scan analysis and reporting software.
Maintain and manage backend support systems and Vulnerability Databases.
Writing and editing scripts used for scanning and security testing (Perl, Python, etc.).
Utilize the current following tools
Tenable Security Center
Nessus Scanner
NMAP
Scan Data Review and Analysis
Review scan data to determine if the system is performing as designed.
Review application/ scanner logs for anomalies.
Review data in the repositories for scanners that appear to be malfunctioning.
Review scan/operation data for trends in vulnerability findings.
Review and update scan policies.
Produce periodic operation analysis and impact reports as required.
Produce periodic trending and impact reports, and recommendation papers as required.
Management and maintenance of backend system software.
Management and maintenance of vulnerability scanning and security scanning and operation process related documents.
REQUIRED Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 8 years of prior relevant experience or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust with a Tier 4/High Risk background investigation.
Experience using Tenable Security Center, Nessus and other DoD approved scanning tools.
Experience creating, updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Experience in procuring, planning, designing, implementing, integrating, and testing security solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
PREFERRED Qualifications
Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Experience supporting vulnerability management in an enterprise-level Security Operations Center
Experience utilizing a ticket system such as ServiceNow
Experience writing and editing scripts used for scanning and security testing (Perl, Python, etc.).

Pay Range:
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $176,250.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
