Leidos is seeking a Senior UX Specialist to be part of the mission solution and help lead SSA’s Digital Modernization Strategy.  Join one of our high performing teams responsible for building the next-generation enterprise APIs and modern responsive user interfaces, supporting the Social Security Administration (SSA) and their mission to meet the changing needs of the public, positively impacting at least 65 million American lives per month.  We are a team of forward-looking professionals in need of a strong candidate with these key required skillsStrong knowledge of user-centered design (UCD) principles to include documenting user requirements and user needs (and pain points); Interaction/Interface design experience utilizing user-centered methods; designing and conducting formative various user research tests (including user interviews, contextual inquiry, card sorting, usability tests, and others) in both formal and informal settings; and experience preparing and presenting findings and recommendations in small and large group settings.

  • Derive business processes, analyze user needs, assist in requirements definition, design browser-based interfaces, and design and conduct usability testing
  • Lead either individually or support a team of UX resources through all UX activities and processes on a given customer project(s)
  • Elicit business goals and user needs from stakeholders
  • Facilitate customer discovery sessions
  • Create Conceptual Models, Journey Maps, Personas and Scenarios of Use
  • Create and refine screen prototypes
  • Document user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations

FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 Years of relevant work experience OR Master’s degree and 5 Years of relevant work experience as a User Experience Specialist or a minimum of 11 years related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics as well as interface with the customer on a daily basis
  • Minimum of 10 years of direct Interaction/Interface design experience in User-Centered Methods and User Analysis
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. Contract requirement.

These skills will help you succeed in this position:

  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics as well as interface with the customer on a daily basis
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience documenting user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in designing and directly facilitating formative usability tests in both formal and informal settings
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience preparing and presenting findings and recommendations in small and large group settings
  • Ability to deliver results and findings to an executive level audience without additional support
  • Must provide a digital portfolio of design work for review

HOW TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD (Desired Skills)

Showcase your knowledge of modern development through the following experience or skills:

  • Experience using Axure RP prototyping software
  • Experience with AdobeXD prototyping software
  • Experience with Pega and/or ServiceNow platforms
  • Experience with the Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Understanding of responsive design
  • Prior experience supporting government agencies
  • Understanding of Section 508 and its requirements regarding design
  • Hold additional UX Certifications such as UX Master Certification (NN/g) or UX Design Immersive (General Assembly)

Pay Range:

Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00
