Leidos is seeking a senior level Environmental Occupational Health and Safety (EOSH) Professional, who is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), as a Consulting Employee (CE) with 7 years of industrial hygiene experience, which must include a minimum of 4 years of asbestos experience, to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team. 

The position will support the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Designated Agency Safety and Health Official (DASHO) Support Group (AJW-25) by providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in the areas of chemical, biological, physical, ergonomic, and air contaminates impacting FAA facilities.  Activities may include gathering facility information, developing safety approaches, implementing safety programs, tracking the progress of facility improvement metrics, and communicating with FAA senior leadership.

EOSH Professional Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop FAA policy, guidance and directives on subjects related to FAA and occupational safety, health, and environmental compliance.

  • Identify and asses hazardous workplace conditions and develop the necessary controls for occupational health hazards and safety concerns.  Initiate and provide written documentation.

  • Support industrial hygiene and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) surveys and audits.

  • Ensure workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state requirements.

  • Serve as subject matter expert for environmental occupational safety and health subject areas including asbestos management, chemical hazards, bloodborne pathogens, and other safety related areas.

  • Assist in the design of appropriate solutions to address identified safety and environmental risks.

  • Oversee and recommend strategies for performing industrial hygiene related sampling at FAA facilities.

  • Develop measurable approaches for Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) surveys and audits.

  • Interact with regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, local and state health & environmental departments).

  • Provide planning, scheduling, networking, and coordination assistance among FAA and Department of Transportation (DOT) regional and headquarters’ organizations, involving implementation and integration efforts and related monitoring/tracking programs.

  • Research regulatory, scientific, and engineering written materials.

  • Provide professional opinions on matters affecting occupational safety and health and participate in field activities as requested by the client.

EOSH Professional Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience. Or, a Master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience. Or, a PhD with 7+ years of relevant experience. Overall experience must include at least 7 years of industrial hygiene experience, which must include a minimum of 4 years of asbestos experience.

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Certification.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.

  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

  • Ability to obtain state licensing for related areas, such as Mold & Asbestos.

  • Thorough knowledge of Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) laws, regulations, and practices.

  • Previous FAA experience.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $108,550 - $225,450
