Job Description:
The Civil Health Operation is seeking an O&M Deputy Manager in Baltimore or Rockville, MD to support our FDA programs. The Systems for Inspections, Recalls, Compliance Enforcement (SIRCE) and Imports program supports the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Office of Regulatory Affairs' (ORA) critical work to safeguard the foods, drugs, devices, biologics, and veterinary products that the Agency regulates. These systems continue to evolve to meet emerging business needs and to support new mandates and initiatives. It is important to respond to customer needs and issues. The Deputy O&M Manager is a highly technical and visible position that requires a strong mix of communications skills and hands on technical trouble shooting to support application issues and application of preventative measures. Specific roles & responsibilities for the Deputy O&M management position include but not limited to the following: - Technical leadership of projects with skills in coordination, trouble shooting, identification of issues, risks, and schedules - Familiar with Middleware and infrastructure tools (e.g. Web servers, Oracle Forms, load balancers, Directory services, Authentication services) - Trouble shooting applications, interfaces, and server OS issues (LINUX, Windows, Exadata, Exalogic, Oracle databases) - Communication with internal team members and with external customers to communicate preventative measures, status, updates on risks and schedules - Leadership on the Operations and Maintenance team o Backup to the O&M Lead o Chair the weekly O&M status meeting, preparation of the agenda, updates, status, distribution of updated meeting notes o Monthly rotational basis for on call leadership/supervisory support o Lead patching events and activities that require off shift hours over a weekend on a monthly basis - Software development and/or test experience is a plus
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in a technical discipline - General knowledge of firewall rules, networking configurations and access - Minimum8 years Project leadership/management and oversight of complex IT projects - Minimum 5 years system configuration with applications, LINUX servers, Windows servers - Minimum 5 years of enterprise level system and application trouble shooting for Database applications, Web applications, and client/server applications - Strong verbal and written communications skills - Ability to clearly articulate key technical concepts and ideas. - Ability to work well in a team environment spanning multiple locations. - Ability to work independently and with a team
Requires US Citizen or US Person with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.Desired skills: FDA Customer experience Experience with large-scale datacenter applications Cloud Computing experience with AWS, Azure, and VM Ware
