Leidos has a job opening for a Compute / Storage Intern in Orlando, FL.

POSITION/PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Leidos CIO Services is seeking a Summer 2019 Compute and Storage Administrator Intern

The successful Compute / Storage Admin Intern will be partnered with a Technical Full Time Employee, and will observe and assist with standard administrative tasks. The admin intern will also assist with our Code Upgrade and Hardware Replacement projects. The admin Intern will also work with vendor support to perform some hardware upgrades remotely. Additionally, the admin Intern will be tasked with communicating with vendor support ensuring alerts are being received and technical support tickets are opened when there is a HW failure.

The successful candidate must possess the ability to work well in a distributed team environment. The candidate should be of a highly ethical, trustworthy and reliable nature. The ability to utilize our Service Now system to adhere to rigid ITIL based change and release control processes and procedures are critical and this will be taught. The candidate should have some analytical and problem solving skills.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shadow members of the Storage and Compute team, obtaining knowledge and experience.
With members of the team supervising, work on scheduling code upgrades for storage arrays.
Work on requesting hardware replacements when there is a HW failure on a storage array.
Work with support ensuring call home alerts are being received and technical support tickets are opened when there is a HW failure or any other type of issue that would trigger a call home alert.
Review Splunk alerts for CMDB orphans
Investigate weekly security vulnerability scans and/or patch requirements and see what potential impacts they would have (Data Domain).
Create CI records for new servers.
Investigate vCenter alerts.
Investigate Cisco UCS alerts
Investigate HP Blade alerts.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
-Pursuing at minimum a 2 year degree in Information Technology or related field with an average 3.0 GPA.
-Must have experience working with computers at a software and hardware level.
-Must have solid organization, analytical, and communication skills.
-Must have an understanding of networking concepts.
-Must have basic understanding of server Virtualization concepts, VMware ESX experience a distinct advantage.
-US Citizenship is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Understanding and experience in working with data center server and storage infrastructure an advantage.
Understanding and experience in working in a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controlled and certified environment.
Understanding and experience in working within an ITIL framework operational environment.
Understanding and experience in working utilizing a ticketing system, such as Service now.
Understanding and experience in working with rigorous change management controls.
