Job Description:

The VADIR Data Architect will support system maintenance, sustainment, and new development on the Veterans Affairs/Department of Defense Identity Repository (VADIR) which is a critical system in the Department of Veterans Affairs. The VADIR database serves as the authoritative data store from the Department of Defense and VA sources to support registration, automated eligibility determinations, common business functions, and consistent identification of beneficiaries across VA, providing the data to support the improved veteran-centric services that support enterprise goals. VADIR provides reporting and analysis capability to VA staff offices and lines of business. VADIR provides real-time notification of critical events across the continuum of veteran and service member care and benefits which can be applied across VA as needed. VADIR database is built in an Oracle - Redhat Linux operating system and includes database replication to the DoD through the Jumpmind COTS. The VADIR Web Services are on the Redhat Linux operating system and use the Apache web server and WebLogic application server.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage, Develop, and Refine Database Requirements
  • Design and optimize data architectures (logical and physical)
  • Design, modify, enhance database systems
  • Optimize data designs for performance, storage, and throughput
  • Understand VA Enterprise systems and Enterprise Data ecosystem
  • Understand DoD Enterprise systems relating to personnel management
  • Estimate, plan, and manage collaborative technical teams
  • Analyze, manage, and plan the resolution of data qualify, access, and reporting issues in a maintenance and sustainment program.

Basic Qualifications
  • BS with at least 10 years of experience in data architecture
  • Must have VA MBI
  • Database Design, Structure, Technology
  • Data Architectures (logical and physical)
  • Oracle Database Systems
  • SQL
  • VA Enterprise Architecture and VA Enterprise Data Ecosystem
  • DoD Enterprise architect and data ecosystem for personnel management
  • Veterans Affairs/Department of Defense Identity Repository (VADIR)
