Leidos's is currently seeking a full-time Biostatistician III to support the Deployment Health Research department at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, CA.
This position will support the Deployment Health Research Department in their mission to examine the effects of deployment and career experiences on the overall physical and mental health of service members and their families. Currently, the department has several major research studies in progress, including the Millennium Cohort Study, the Millennium Cohort Family Study, the Birth and Infant Health Research Program, and the Recruit Assessment Program. This position will work closely with Principal Investigators, epidemiologists, analysts and study coordinators to support ongoing research efforts.
Design, develop and adapt statistical methods for the analysis of research data, collect, organize, manage, analyze and interpret highly specialized administrative and medical databases.
Evaluate available biostatistical procedures to determine which will perform the desired statistical analysis, computations or output format.
Complete biostatistical analysis using statistical techniques at a comprehensive professional level measure and minimize magnitude of error in research data.
Advise investigators on appropriate research designs to allow appropriate statistical analyses
Analyze existing data systems and work in conjunction with research staff to improve these systems
Participate in the development of written operations and procedures for the collection, editing, verification and management of statistical data
Analyze factual information, recognize and evaluate significant and critical factors in investigations, and solve complex research problems and advise others on the solution and presentation of such problems
Develop presentations, manuscripts, and reports describing study findings.
Oversee work efforts of junior biostatisticians
Master's degree in statistics or related field and minimum of ten years work experience in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology or related field OR
PhD in statistics or related field and minimum of six years work experience in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology or related field OR
Minimum of six years experience successfully proposing, conducting and publishing relevant research as a Principal Investigator
Minimum of four first-authored articles in peer-reviewed journals
Working knowledge of SAS
Due to federal contract restrictions, candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
