Leidos is currently seeking a Systems Engineer in Laurel, Maryland

PROGRAM SUMMARY: Do you enjoy being a part of small teams that work closely with the customer? Does big data pique your interest? Our Prototype Development Support program is looking for candidates with a strong mission focus to do new development and rapid prototyping. Someone who can figure out smarter, better ways to discover new targets or support mission analysis.

Primary Responsibilities

As a Systems Engineer, you will collect and analyze customer requests for customized solutions and translate those requests into defined requirements. You will research and recommend technology solutions appropriate to meeting ONP infrastructure needs. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance to resolve issues or problems, and recommend future advancements in architecture development of ONP infrastructure. Designing and developing solutions to integrate other technologies and mission support applications into the ONP environment are important aspects of the position. You will perform advanced troubleshooting and resolution of complex issues or problems within the ONP infrastructure. Also, managing and supporting ONP infrastructure in coordination with direct support providing system and network administration, to include health and status information, disk utilization, performance monitoring, data backup/recovery requirements, and architecture resource allocations are vital to the position. When needed, you will create custom coded components using best practices to support ONP infrastructure development and functionality. You will create systems architecture documentation as needed. Lastly, the successful candidate will assist with the tracking of infrastructure projects as they go from defined requirements to becoming part of the infrastructure.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of experience. Additional education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Eight (8) to eighteen (18) years of general experience as a systems analyst.
  • Five (5) years of experience in systems analysis, engineering design, and communications applications on complex information systems, database management, the use of programming languages that support Sun Solaris, HP UNIX, Windows NT, Pascal or Delphi, Linux - Redhat, Windows XP, Databases, Sybase RDBMS, Oracle RDBMS, MS Access, Oracle Context, Oracle Forms, Powerbuilder, MS SQL Server, Indexed Sequential Access Method (ISAM), and knowledge of storage and retrieval methods


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience utilizing systems engineering best practices
  • Experience with task and/or project management
  • Experience with MS Project is desired
  • Network and Systems Administration experience is desired
  • Experience designing and supporting infrastructure solutions
