Job Description:

Leidos is looking for a qualified candidate to join our team in our Houston, TX office at Johnson Space Center. The ideal candidate will fill an ISS Operations Planning (Ops Plan) Flight Controller position, who is responsible for coordinating, generating and up-linking all plans & supporting material for the ISS crew. This position also performs the lead planning integration role among all international and domestic planners. In addition, the Ops Plan team monitors real-time execution of the timeline, making recommendations and balancing priorities as real-time issues and anomalies arise. The Ops Plan provides support to the International Space Station (ISS) Operations Planning Group in the NASA JSC Flight Operations Directorate (FOD). Members of the Operations Planning Group work closely with other FOD organizations, Flight Directors, International Partners, and other NASA organizations and centers to plan ISS operations. The position will involve training to achieve a minimum of two Planning flight controller certifications: Long-Range Planner Support and Real-time Planning Engineer. Upon achieving certification, the employee will support ISS real-time operations as an ISS Flight Controller in the Mission Control Center (MCC) at the Johnson Space Center. Duties include, but are not limited to developing mission timelines pre-flight and in real-time that are used in directing the ISS crew and flight controllers in operating the ISS; coordinating the development, testing, and deployment of planning software tools used aboard the ISS and in the control centers; and developing planning products and planning processes used in plan development and training.

Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, leadership, teamwork, technical, and administrative skills are mandatory. Candidate must have a demonstrated ability to plan, lead, and coordinate a wide range of tasks.

Basic Qualifications

This is an entry-level position. Preferred position related experience 0-2 years. Bachelors of Science Degree, in Engineering (ABET), Mathematics, Physics, or in a similar field of study.

Candidate should be a self-starter who excels in a dynamic environment that requires him/her to work effectively both alone or as part of a team. Candidate must be able to apply technical knowledge and operations concepts to exercise effective decision making and initiative in a real-time and fast-paced operational environment. Candidate must show ability to respond under pressure as a Flight Controller for positions in the Multi-Purpose Support Room. Shift work (nights, weekends, and holidays) is required. Candidate must be able to support infrequent travel domestically or internationally.

Candidate is required to pass a standard flight controller physical examination prior to completing their first flight controller certification. This position requires successful completion of a government background check before commencement of employment.

Russian, Japanese, or European language skills, scripting, or web development working knowledge, or project management experience are all a plus.
