Job Description:

Provide support to the analytical chemistry laboratory at a government research and development facility in northern New Jersey. The candidate will be assisting senior-level chemists in the field of analytical chemistry with primary emphasis on compositional analysis, thermal analysis, analytical methods development, and ammunition surveillance associated with energetic materials projects/programs

Primary Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will serve as a professional chemist in the area of energetic materials analysis with primary emphasis on the development of scientific methodologies and test plans in support of analytical chemistry evaluations. The candidate will conduct compositional and thermal analysis studies utilizing numerous pieces of analytical instrumentation in support of energetic materials projects/programs. He or She will also provide technical advice associated with analytical chemistry efforts to government.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in chemistry.

Experienced in the utilization of analytical laboratory instrumentation including high performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC), gas chromatograph (GC), ultraviolet visible spectrometer (UV-Vis), mass spectrometer (MS), and infra-red (IR) spectrometer.

Knowledgeable in basic laboratory safety procedures.

Experienced in hazardous waste disposal procedures.

Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

Excellent organizational/task execution skills.

Ability to take direction from senior personnel and demonstrate a strong professional attitude.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
