Leidos has a job opening for a part time Tax Intern in Reston, VA.
***This position is part time 20 hours a week year round. You must be immediately available and work in the local Reston, VA area.
The Tax Intern will be a member of the Corporate Tax department. This is a unique position allowing the candidate to have hands-on experience dealing with and defending tax positions for a $10 billion company. The candidate's primary role will be to track tax notices received from the state, local and international jurisdictions as well as drafting responses to these notices. The candidate will also have the opportunity to assist in the state & local tax audit process by drafting responses to information requests. The position requires attention to detail and exemplary organization skills. This is a year-round internship requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week.
-Tracking and day-to-day management of federal, state, and local tax notices.
-Making copies and developing support files.
-Communicating verbally and in writing with representatives of various tax jurisdictions.
-Analyzing data to support positions taken on the tax return.
-Drafting responses to domestic and international indirect tax notices.
-Assisting in responding to state and local audit information requests.
-Opportunity to assist other tax areas with compliance and special projects thus allowing exposure to other areas of tax.
-This is a year-round internship requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week.
-Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program from an accredited university with a plan to major in Accounting, Finance, or Law with a clear interest/focus in taxation.

-High School diploma and completion of the first 2 years of a Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited university, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
-Interest in pursuing a job in Tax.
-Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
-Strong work ethic and the ability to keep highly sensitive information confidential.
-Ability to effectively interact with co-workers of all levels.
-Ability to interact with other departments within the finance organization.
-U.S. Citizenship is required.
-Strong verbal and writing skills.
-General knowledge of income tax.
