Job Description:

Leidos is seeking a talented DevOps Engineer to join our team in supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) transition from traditional software development techniques to Agile DevOps cloud-based techniques. Your primary work location will be in the DC Metro area. 100% telecommuting is available, but you must live locally to attend occasional in-person meetings in the DC Metro Area. You must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance with SCI to be considered for this position.


The team will be relying upon your expertise and hands-on experience with DevOps tools and techniques (including microservices) to accomplish their mission. The ability to communicate/summarize complex issues for senior leadership, particularly with visual aids, is an important part of this role. You will regularly...

• Provide insight into current trends in software development and deployment including evaluation of commercial technologies

• Communicate hands-on knowledge into actionable recommendations on how to implement the above concepts to the DoD

• Develop information briefs and papers for government leadership on Agile DevOps cloud-based Tools, Techniques, and Micro-services.

• Assist with DoD and IC technical and policy reviews


• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering with 12+ years' experience

• Must have U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance with SCI

• Programming knowledge required (multiple platforms/languages)

• More than five years of experience with Agile DevOps projects

• Ability to quickly learn technical concepts and communicate with multiple functional groups

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

• Knowledge of enterprise data integration techniques such as data fabrics

• Experience in DevOps

• Experience in Agile Development

• Experience with business process/workflow design and development

• Must be able to work in a dynamic fast paced, highly flexible, team-oriented environment with responsibility for customer deliverables and schedule

• Travel of up to 10-15% of the time within the DC Metro Area, and to select CONUS meetings may be required.


• Master's Degree in Computer Science engineering, or physical sciences plus 10+ years of experience

• Experience with all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using Agile methods

• Experience with cloud migration

• Experience in distributed systems observability including log files, metrics, and traces including the use Splunk, OpenTrace, and service meshes

• Good understanding of the full stack software development (databases, services, REST, client-side, user interface) in a cloud native environment

• Experience with interacting with Cloud infrastructure providers, including Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, or Google Cloud

• Experience with DevOps & CI/CD methods and tools, including Jenkins, Git, SVN, Jira, Docker, & Puppet

• Experience applying enterprise integration patterns using SOA, API's, microservices, message-based, and file-based approaches

• Experience with applying data integration patterns using traditional and modern data technologies (SQL, NoSQL)

• Experience with Big Data

• Experience with Machine Learning and Deep Learning concepts and algorithms

• Experience with security solutions SSO, Oauth, IAM/User Registry, and Encryption

• Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) and designing, developing, and communicating complex software solutions

• Knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) development and designing and implementing RESTful Web services

• Knowledge of scaling, performance, and scheduling

• Knowledge of system architecture, including process, memory, storage, and networking management

• Basic knowledge of network fundamentals and network configurations (router, firewall, VPN, load balancer)
