Job Description:

This position is for an Entry-Level Software Developer on the ESA IV program. ESA IV is an IT applications and infrastructure services program supporting several customers within the Department of Justice (DOJ), including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The program provides a wide range of IT services, including software application development and support, data center operations and maintenance, service desk, deskside support, Windows workstation engineering and maintenance, managed print services, Active Directory services, and video conferencing.

In this position you will provide software development and maintenance support for one or more software applications used on the program; this may include a variety of technologies and platforms, including Java, JavaScript, Sharepoint and .NET. Supported applications run on both on-premise and cloud platforms, and comprise a mix of custom-developed applications and customized Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Typically requires BS degree (Computer/Software/Engineering or Computer Science) or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain software applications using Agile software development techniques
  • Support development and analysis of customer business needs and requirements, working with other team members, business process owners, customers, users and constituents
  • Perform application testing
  • Create and maintain application documentation
  • Collaborate with members of project teams to ensure successful, technically sound projects which are completed on time and on budget


Basic Qualifications
  • Proven software development skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience in one or more of the following technologies:
    • Java Development (JDK 1.7, 1.8, or higher)
    • J2EE Technologies
    • JavaScript frameworks; Node / Angular / Express
  • Agile development experience
  • Experience establishing goals and meeting project plan objectives
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills


Preferred Qualifications
  • Cloud development experience; AWS Technologies (API Gateway, S3, Lamba, etc.)
  • Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift
  • GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus Repository, CloudFormation
  • REST API, SOAP
  • Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
