JOB DESCRPTION: Leidos Defense and Intelligence group is seeking a THAAD Logistics Handler in Fort Bliss, TX. The successful Logistics Material Engineer requires practical knowledge of the professional discipline, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Has general understanding of industry practices and standards. The candidate will be part of a Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) engineering team providing logistical provision to a THAAD Unit with minimal supervision. The candidate will manage the team in warehouse, property, and requisitioning tools and supplies in field environments. Candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling and managing the movement of parts from receipt at the warehouse to field engineers. Determines final destination of assemblies and equipment upon receipt. Travel to and from main warehouse to turn-in and replace spare parts.
Responsibilities include handling and inspecting static-electric sensitive devices and scheduling calibration requirements from engineering specifications. Candidate will work independently and will set own objectives for planning and managing spare part movement with purchasing, warehouse distribution, and moderately complex projects. Failure to complete goals or set objectives will cause moderate to severe impact on THAAD support operations. May be required to assist engineers with THAAD specific procedures and overall THAAD operating requirements. Directs and supervises procurement functions to ensure that the level of spares and material are sufficient to meet mission requirements. The candidate will develop and implement plans for the accountability, distribution, coordination, documentation, inspection and reception of the Team's warehouse. Candidate will be required to demonstrate abilities identify and provide alternate or equivalent materials/parts to meet the needs of the customer rapidly; Candidate will need to identify and contact various vendors to identify products that will meet specifications and conduct cost analysis reports to justify selections. Experience with inventory and material management software programs such as SAP. Creates and sustain material planning functions to align available spares and material with Unit requirements. Completion of daily or assigned tasks and objectives will be necessary to avoid critical impact to overall Team operations.
The candidate will work directly with Government and company acquisition entities to acquire and control property and material. Communication with upper management, project leads, and logistics managers will be required. Weekly briefs on sparing, requisitions, inventory levels will be required within internal staff and to the customer. Advise and train junior members of other the material support teams on the use of material tracking systems. Continuous interaction with the customer to provide the status of spares, material orders, current requirements and operating policies. Candidate will be responsible for establishing logistical operations at deployed sites to include coordination with military transportation offices and local businesses. Working overtime and non-standard shifts may be necessary.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with at least 2 years of experience.
