Job Description:

The Biomedical Research Grants Data Specialist will review and extract scientific, programmatic, financial and administrative data from research proposals and progress reports, enter data into management information systems, and exercise independent judgment to perform analysesis and provide quarterly and annual reporting on award data to assist program managers in evaluating research portfolios, ensuring that awardees are meeting outcomes as outlined in their proposals and program strategic plans, and reporting plans and progress to funding sponsors. The Specialist may will also work as needed with program managers and database administrators to enhance develop or revise forms and procedures in order to improve the efficiency off data collection and effectiveness of reports, and may assist in coordination of data calls. The Specialist will also maintain familiarity with organizational policies that define requirements for proposals and progress reports, and will evaluate documents for policy compliance. The Specialist will work with research portfolios spanning a broad range of biomedical investigation, ranging from basic research through clinical studies, and involving diverse scientific areas including human physiology and performance, neuroscience, microbiology, immunology, toxicology, pharmacology, and medical information systems. The successful candidate will be sufficiently comfortable with technical terminology and concepts to accurately summarize scientific information and, independently evaluate project status, and must have excellent written communication skills.

This is a full-time position located in Frederick, MD, and will be filled contingent upon award of a contract.

REQUIREMENTS: Individuals must possess a bachelor's degree in biology or other relevant biomedical field, with 2 years of post-degree research experience, or have a master's degree in a relevant biomedical field. Individuals must have demonstrated experience in reviewing and summarizing primary research literature or other types of research data. U.S. citizenship and ability to successfully pass a Public Trust Investigation are required.

Desired: Prior experience in writing grant proposals or similar documents is desirable, as is experience with use of Oracle or other relational databases. Prior experience in a research program management setting is a plus.
