Leidos is currently seeking a Maintenance Test Pilot, with program management responsibilities and duties, that will work and travel in between customer sites as needed. Customer sites include Kandahar, Kabul and Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan.
Pilot duties include, but are not limited to:
Flight readiness inspections and completing maintenance forms and aircraft log books.
Flight tests the applicable aircraft to determine that the airframe, power plant, accessories and items of equipment are functioning IAW predetermined requirements.
Performs maintenance operational checks of aircraft on the ground through engine run-up, aircraft taxiing or use of auxiliary power or testing equipment, to assure that aircraft systems or components disturbed during an inspection or maintenance action have been repaired, reassembled or adjusted satisfactorily.
Performs general maintenance operational test flights and/or functional check flights to prove the airworthiness of the complete aircraft.
Performs limited test flights when it is necessary to prove proper functioning of specific items/components.
After each test flight, performs visual inspection.to the extent necessary to ensure that deficiencies developed as a result of the test flight are detected and corrected before the aircraft is released for further flight.
Performs required training/evaluation of program assigned MTP's.
Program Manager duties include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for planning, organizing, securing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific program goals and objectives.
Completes required documentation IAW the applicable references.
Ensures that program runs within scope, time, and budget constraints.
Interfaces with task and functional leaders, subcontractors, and support personnel.
Has P & L responsibility.
Leads the team in developing standards and operational plans in support of the program.
Ensures program operations are compliant with DCMA INST 8210.C.
Has budget accountability for work area and manages elements of the budget. Problems are difficult and complex and typically involve multiple small tasks and customers.
Manages a team of experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
Leads, directs and reviews the work of team who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
Has hiring, firing, promotion and reward authority within own area, in accordance with TO manager review and approval.
Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead program team.
Has advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other are as within the function.
Must have past or current designation as a Pilot/Aircraft Commander in the applicable aircraft and have 1500 hours (to include 200 hours as Maintenance Pilot) of experience in performing duties for Maintenance Test flights. Must possess a military medical or FAA Class II clearance and be able to meet applicable physical and physiological minimum requirements for the applicable aircraft.
Minimum 4 years as Maintenance Test Pilot
Candidate must possess an active Secret Clearance
Bachelor's degree preferred. DoD Pilot Training Certificates, DoD Transition School for applicable aircraft are required or FAA/EASA/ICAO approved flight training and certification
Previous military/contractor flight experience in contingency areas
Maintenance Test Flight Examiner (MTFE)
