Leidos is currently seeking an Aircraft Mechanic Lead. The Aircraft Mechanic Lead will work and travel in between customer sites as needed. Customer sites include Kandahar, Kabul and Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan. The Aircraft Mechanic Lead must possess a level of experience necessary to inspect and maintain all aircraft assigned (MD-530F).
Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Be proficient in the use of the current maintenance management system utilized to maintain Army/FAA aircraft forms and records.
Plans, conducts, and supervises aircraft scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
Computes basic weight and balance records.
Participates in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
Ensures compliance with aircraft configuration control, Army oil analysis Program and test measuring diagnostic equipment calibration.
Provides OJT/OJM training in aircraft repair and technical inspection techniques and procedures according to directives, technical manuals, work standards and operational policies to host country personnel.
Provides lower level technicians guidance in aircraft repair and technical inspection techniques and procedures according to directives, technical manuals, work standards and operational policies.
Prepares evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance repair and related activities.
Must be capable of qualifying to perform Hazardous Flight duties as Crewmembers/Non-Crewmembers.
Personnel filling these positions are required to meet the qualifications in AR 95-20.
The Aircraft Mechanic Lead must also be able to perform the full range of airframe and engine maintenance, repair, modifications, inspections and servicing of aircraft in accordance with approved methods, techniques and practices and certify accomplished work. This entails the ability to:
• troubleshoot engines and systems
• use the federal supply system
• read and understand technical manuals and schematics
• read and interpret all instruments
• use special test equipment and tools
• research the technical library
• perform full system checkouts on all aircraft systems
• perform mechanic test flight duties
• perform complete servicing of aircraft
This position is located in Afghanistan on a 90/30 rotation.
High School Diploma required or Technical or Military School Training FAA license/certification/EASA/ICAO equivalent.
Active NACI clearance
8 Years direct experience in aircraft maintenance.
Military technical school or an Airframe & Power plant (A&P) License.
Very familiar with Microsoft Office software, specifically Excel and Access
Must have MD530 experience
As the position location is in Afghanistan, the following requirements need to be met:
Active passport with a minimum of 12 months before expiration prior to start date.
Visa with multiple entries for 12 months prior to start date
Completion of Customer required International Readiness Certifications prior to deployment.
Failure to complete any of these actions within 60 days of accept will result in rescinding of the offer. If the candidate is unable to pass the medical screening after the start date and prior to deployment an immediate administrative termination will be requested.
Preferred Aviation background experience
Understanding and accepting local languages, customs and traditions (to be able to work with local customs, transport systems and language interpretation)
Ability to work and live in a team environment
Military deployment experience is highly desired and deployment experience to the CENTCOM region is desired
