With a "no downtime, zero outages" vision and mantra, we support a range of data center needs ranging from self-service to white-glove services, all of which are based on our customer's required level of support. Our organization is comprised of teams supporting PMO, Security, Quality, Intake, Service Delivery, Engineering, and Service Operations. These teams access resources from our functional teams supporting Network, Security, Firewall, z/OS and z/VM operations, Unix Operations, Change Management, Monitoring, Capacity Management, x86 Operations, and Storage Operations. Part of everyone's responsibility is to help drive the new consumption-based services-oriented model.
Now to you - your mission, if you choose to accept it, as a Systems Engineer, will require you to aid in the development of solutions that are innovative, and achieved through integration of best practices. Aid in the development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results. You will interact daily with technical resource which are fulfilling technical requirements for the customer. Your goal will be to work with all stakeholders to help Leidos ensure delivery of high-quality, robust and scalable solutions with minimal business impact.
The current work environment is on-site at Leidos in Windsor Mill / Woodlawn, Maryland with potential for on-site work at CMS (in the same location). Telecommute opportunities are currently being evaluated and may become available based upon teams supported, work hours, and work performance.
This position will provide career exposure to the following teams:
Service Operations (3 Months):
Work with team on installing new hardware, software, and documenting the hardware and infrastructure configurations (Visio and ServiceNow). Provide support to the NCC. Specific focus will be data center hardware.
It is recommended that the Systems Engineer pursues a CompTIA Network+ certification during this period.
Engineering (3 Months):
Work with the team on configuring and administering infrastructure and server related systems or participating in a research and development cycle for new product development. Specific focus will be on cloud related technologies, directory services, and defining salable services.
It is recommended that the Systems Engineer pursues a MCSA, CCNA, VCP or AWS certification during this period.
Security (3 Months):
Work with team on documenting and assessing the security posture of the data center and existing configuration. Specific focus will be on security control assessments.
It is recommended that the Systems Engineer pursues a CompTIA Security+ certification during this period.
Project Management / Solution Architecture (3 Months):
Work with the team on initiating new projects and provide support through basis scheduling and requirements management activities. Specific focus will be on standing up and supporting new projects.
It is recommended that the Systems Engineer pursues a PMI CAPM or PMI ACP certification during this period.
At the end of this one-year cycle, each Technical Lead will meet with the Systems Engineer to discuss the best, long-term placement on the program. We would also like the resource to be an ambassador back to their school.

Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems and Engineering
• 0-1 years of prior relevant experience
• Desire to train and test for industry certifications
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
