Job Description:

The Federal Energy, Environment and Commerce Operation of Leidos is seeking a Chief Engineer for our Washington, DC or Morgantown, WV locations, contingent upon award. The Chief Engineer is responsible for interfacing with customer stakeholders and partners to ensure enterprise-wide technical solutions are effective in tackling the most pressing problems efficiently. The ideal candidate will be experienced in identifying, comparing, selecting and implementing technology solutions to meet current and future needs. The candidate will be well versed with DOE Environmental Management and site stewardship business practices, processes, and role of supporting IT systems. The candidate will provide direction and project leadership, test innovative concepts for further exploration, and implement solutions that extend capability for our customer. Proven leadership making high-level decisions regarding technological enhancements, determining how to leverage technology investments and capital to support program goals is desired. Travel may be required.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of our technical strategy in line with DOE objectives and sensitive to rapidly changing technologies to enable new business opportunities.
  • Review and monitor existing programs to ensure system designs meet/exceed requirements and technical risks are identified and mitigated resulting in successful delivery of programs to our customer
  • Support customer engagement events to understand our customer's future needs and ensure a better informed technical strategy
  • Lead the development of solutions for upcoming customer needs
  • Lead research and case studies on leading edge technologies and make determinations on the applicability to the current program or its future direction
  • Mentor aspiring lead engineers ensure a culture of technical vitality within the program and organization


Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a relevant technical discipline with 15+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrated expertise developing/delivering technical solutions for large scale technology platforms and offerings
  • Understanding and experience of lifecycle development methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience delivering technical reports and plans (verbal/written) to executives and senior officials within DOE
  • Experience with all components of the ITIL framework
  • Possess current industry certifications in project management, cloud technologies, computer platforms, systems and networks, data services and/or security
  • Currently possess an active Q clearance or Top Secret Clearance


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with DOE Enterprise IT systems, requirements and acquisitions
  • Experience as a Chief Engineer, Director of Engineering, or CTO
  • Successful development and leadership of large-scale technical solutions within proposals
  • Experience developing and managing solutions to cost and schedule constraints
